JUDGING FAQ
Contest Day Schedules
- 8:00a-2:00p First Round Judging (lunch provided)
- 1:00p-4:00p Final Round Judging (as needed)
Local contests may vary this schedule depending on their parameters. Your local coordinator will provide complete details so you can plan your day.
Advance Preparation
All judges attend an online training session before the judging period opens. This lasts approx 60-90 minutes.
Judges who prefer to work with Documentary, Paper, or Website projects will receive their projects about 10 days before the contest. You will read/view the projects before the contest, then meet and interview students at the competition.
Judges who prefer to work with Exhibit or Performance projects will read/watch the projects on the day of the contest.
You will be asked to provide your judging preferences and availability during judge registration (below).
How to Sign Up
Scroll down for contest dates and location. Click on the link for the contest of your choice; the link will take you directly to that contest's website.
On the contest homepage, look for the Judge Registration link or select Create Account > Judge.
Each contest has its own judging database. To sign up for more than one contest, complete the judge registration for each event you are volunteering for. Two contests per year is a good maximum for most people.
Teachers: if you will be judging, please set up a new profile with a different username (ex: Jessica.Judging). You can use the same email for both of your profiles.
Mark your calendar. We will plan on you at each date you sign up for!
