  • As a nonprofit supporting the literary arts, the Writers' Colony at Dairy Hollow (WCDH) offers writing residencies at a subsidized rate of $95 per night with a one-time $30 cleaning fee. This rate includes a European-style gourmet dinner served five nights a week and a community kitchen stocked with the basics for breakfast, lunch, and weekend meals. The WCDH Scholarship Fund was developed to assist writers who require additional financial support to complete a writing residency. Our scholarship fund is made possible by generous donors including writers-in-residence who contribute more than the standard subsidized rate so that writers in need can take advantage of uninterrupted residency time.

To receive scholarship support, writers must be approved for a residency at WCDH. Scholarship funds awarded must be used within twelve months of the award date.

Scholarship awards are based on the availability of funds. Unfortunately, requests for funding often surpass donations. We recommend researching grant funds specifically for writers to supplement those provided by the WCDH scholarship fund. Be sure to check with your state's arts council.
