  • Looking back over the past seven years of my life, it has been an amazing journey of exploration and discovery. But I would not be able to say this had it not been for the wake call that opened my eyes to see that as senior pastor over a small congregation of young people, I needed help with my life before I could truly make a difference in their life.

That's when I decided to become a coach with The John Maxwell Team. I realized that I was underdeveloped and ill-equipped to really help make a difference in the lives of the church members. Yes! I was preaching and teaching the word, I even laid hands on some and cast out a few demons. But something was missing. I saw their struggles and as a pastor, I could feel their pain. But I was limited by my skills and abilities to help them manifest their dreams and visions.

Becoming a certified independent coach took me on a personal growth journey that helped me to discover the greatness in me. I had untapped wells that needed to break free. I had potential that blossomed like a well-watered rose garden. I became fully aware and very intentional about growing myself so much so that that desire became my mission to see others grow.

Later in my growth journey, I discovered how bad some of the members of my congregation were suffering from low self-esteem and self-worth. I discovered that my growth stirred up some things. And I realized that hurting people will hurt others if healing does not take place. I was resented for taking my growth journey by the very people that I set out to help. Some even left the ministry. And when this happened it opened up even a greater desire to help others grow and discover their mission in life.

I shared my story in hopes that it will help others to realize that you can only help others as much as you are being helped. You have to grow beyond the people you lead and the people you want to serve. Nothing in your life will ever substitute the growth that is necessary for you and me to excel in greatness. If you're sick and tired of being and doing the same thing day in and day out, and you know that you have more inside of you, I recommend that you find a good coach or mentor. Allow them to help you heal and discover your greatness!

ASSEMBLED BLESSINGS BAKING & CATERING, LLC

    TAMEKA AMOS, OWNER

"A LITTLE SOMETHING FROM MY KITCHEN"

We all know that preparing for the holidays can be extra exhausting. Then, adding a great dinner spread only adds to the pressure of it all! That’s why a little pre-holiday meal planning is a great idea. Planning will put everything in perspective and make the process less tedious! Here are a few tips From Assembled Blessings to help!

Menu planning: Figuring out exactly what you want to cook is a must! You have to know what direction you’re going with the meal before buying anything. Will the meal be traditional, or will you have a particular themed cuisine(such as seafood boil, Mexican, party hors d’oeuvres)?

Grocery shopping: This is important!!! Do not go to the grocery store at the last minute. This will cause you to possibly not find all your ingredients for your dishes.
Thaw! Thaw! Thaw!: Thawing foods properly can make or break your holiday meal! Meats are very delicate in this process. If cooking turkey, depending on the size of your bird, it should be thawed in the refrigerator 3-5 days ahead. Leaving your bird on the countertop to thaw could potentially make someone ill when consumed. Frozen veggies should stay frozen until ready to cook. If butter for desserts is frozen, those can be set out to get room temperature.

Bake ahead: Some of us may be cooking for large families, so baked goods can be prepared ahead and frozen by wrapping securely in plastic wrap. You can also make cakes and store them in airtight containers. If making pies, it’s best to keep those refrigerated until ready to eat.

Cooking ahead: It is perfectly fine to cook some of your foods ahead and reheat the day of. Just be sure to cool everything down before freezing or refrigerating. There’s nothing like bringing out the dressing you’ve worked so hard on only to find out that it has soured because it was refrigerated too warm. Cool your foods down with an ice bath(use a suitable sized container filled halfway with ice and place your food container on the ice) until it’s no longer warm.
All in all, the Holiday season is meant to enjoy! No one wants to spend all their time in a kitchen over a hot stove! Enjoy your family, but do so headache-free and safely! Have a fantastic holiday from my kitchen to yours!

Specializes in baking your favorite cookies, cakes, and pies! They also cater for your special event. For more information, visit the website at www.assembledblessings.com.
