Resilience Workshop: This workshop is a practical exploration of the phenomenon of resilience as it applies to professionals, including Speech and Language Therapists who work in a clinical setting. While its primary focus is on learning skills and developing strategies on building and maintaining resilience in a pressured, under-resourced environment, it also has a focus on awareness and understanding the dynamics of our temperaments, organizational dynamics and projections of service users and their families onto us in the course of our work. Expectations of service users are increasing. There is a follow on pressure within multidisciplinary teams where shifting of stress from one to the other is an important dynamic. The format and style of delivery of the workshop is light-hearted but feedback from countless staff teams from all over Ireland in a variety of care settings indicate that the workshop has a lasting and very useful impression with practical tips and fresh perspectives.
