Was the student able to call his or her parents after you picked them up at the airport?
Have you gone over house rules with the student?
If so, do you feel that they clearly understood those rules?
Healthy, fresh food is extremely important in most cultures. Have you discussed meal preferences with the student and shown the student where food is located in the home?
Have you taken the student shopping for school supplies?
Have you assisted the student with purchasing and activating a cell phone? *Please note - Host parents should never add international students to their plan. Students should set up their own separate account.
Have you collected important documents that you or the student will need while residing in the U.S.? (Be sure to collect important documents like Power of Attorney, Custody Agreements, immunization records, and copies of the students passport).
Remind the student to put their passport and I-20 in a safe place. Ideally, students should give these important documents to you or someone at the school.
Please provide several photos of the student arriving at the airport and your home so that we may share them with their parents.
