You will be provided with a Company mobile phone for the duration of your employment. Company mobile phones are primarily for business use with some limited use for personal calls allowed.
Calls to local and national destinations only may be made. Calls to premium rate numbers may not be made. International calls may not be made without the express permission of your manager in advance.
Employees may use the company’s mobile phones to make and receive some personal calls during office hours. Personal calls should be short.
The Company reserves the right to charge the user for any costs arising from the misuse or neglect of a mobile phone.
A company mobile phone should not be used for:
- Personal gain or profit;
- For gambling
- To represent yourself as someone else;
- To send or download text messages or picture messages that contain political views; inappropriate, obscene, inflammatory, intimidatory, harassing, defamatory, disruptive or otherwise offensive language and anything that will reflect poorly on the Company’s name and professional reputation;
- To view pornography or call ‘lines’ which contain sexual or inappropriate content
- To advertise or otherwise support unauthorised or illegal activities;
- To provide information about employees to others unless required of by the role or the Company
- To send company classified information without approval;
The Internet, Email, Social Media and IT policies of the company apply to the use of Company mobile phones.
The employee, when driving, must use the appropriate device to make or receive calls (ear piece, car kit) or have phones off when driving or stop the vehicle and make/receive the call while the car is stationary.
If Applicable: Mobile phones must have a clear message on the voice mail and users must retrieve their messages as soon as possible. Voice mails should be kept active and switched on. Voicemails must contain the person and company name in the greeting.
Internet access via mobile phone is for business use only. Personal use of mobile internet access is not permitted.
In the event of loss or theft of a mobile phone, the user must immediately contact the Company’s network operator and have the phone disabled. They must then notify the IT Administration Manager at the first opportunity.
The Company will not be liable for any breach of legislation by the user in using the mobile phone e.g. driving when using phone etc.
In the event of the termination of your employment, if you are in possession of a Company mobile phone, this must be returned to management immediately. If you fail to return the Company mobile phone, the Company reserve the right to deduct the cost of the Company mobile phone (€150) from your final payment.
Use of Personal Mobile Phones During Working Hours
All personal mobile phones must be put on silent during work hours. Talking to and texting your friends or family should be strictly limited to a few calls or texts in your working day, but should in no way interfere with your work duties. In particular, your work with clients or stakeholders must in no way be interfered with by your mobile phone use – it is your duty of care to your client to focus all your attention on their needs and your duty to the company to focus on your work at all times.
This excludes lunch and other breaks.
Your contact with your Care Supervisor / line manager should be primarily through talking face-to-face or over the phone. You should not text your manager except for some limited situations. The Company encourages all employees to use face-to-face and phone conversation as its primary means of communication.
You may not access the Internet via your own personal mobile phone during working hours.
Use of Service User Phones
You may only use a Servicee User phone in an emergency (with permission if appropriate) to call:
• The Service User
• The Service User's family (in certain circumstances)
• Emergency services
• The Office
A Service User's phone may not be used for any other purposes.
The Company reserves the right to charge an employee for any costs arising from the misuse or neglect of a client’s phone.
Loss/ Damages/ Stolen Mobile Phone:
If you lose or damage your mobile phone, you will be liable for any repairs or replacement up to €150. The Company reserve the right to deduct the cost of the replacing or repairing the Company mobile phone up (€150) from your wages. The Company will inform you in advance of what the deductions will be and provide you with a repayment plan. Further information can be obtain from your manager.
Any mobile phone that are stolen, must be reported to An Garda Siochana immediately. You must also complete an incident report form and notify a member of management immediately and provide a copy of the An Garda Siochana report to the Company. Further information can be obtain from your manager.
Devices used for Internet/Email and Social Media/Social Networking
The employee should note that as the internet, email and social media/social networking sites can be accessed/used from a variety of mobile phones, the Internet & Email policy, and the Social Media/Social Networking policies of the Company, applies to mobile phones.
Monitoring Phone Use
The Company reserves the right to monitor the use of office phones and company mobile phones (calls, text messaging, picture messaging, internet use, etc. – all areas of mobile phone use) by employees for non-compliance with this policy.
Furthermore, the Company reserves the right to charge the user for personal calls, text messages and picture messages, email or internet use on company or client phones.
