    • Applicant's Preferences
    • Many of the Great Danes in our care come to us because they exhibited behaviors that their previous owners were unable to accomodate/handle/care for. Common concerns could be leash reactivity/aggression, food aggression, "stranger danger", or did not get along with the other pet(s) in the home. We do our best to try to correct the problem in foster care, but the dog may need continued training or work. Please consider this when looking to adopt a dog from our rescue.

    • If you do not have any pets currently, please provide the contact information for the vet(s) that have the records for past pets.

To ensure a smooth application process, please make sure your pet(s) are up to date on their core vaccines (dogs: rabies and DA2PP, cats: rabies) and are spayed or neutered. Pets in the home that are not properly vetted will delay your application process.

Any Vet listed should have records for your pets. If the vet listed does not have records for your pets, your application will be put on hold until we have the correct information.

    • Adopted pets often need an adjustment time of 1-3 months, sometimes more depending on the dog. You may experience defensive behaviors that are temporary and will subside once the dog is comfortable. You will have to build a trusting, healthy relationship with the dog upon adoption- they will not instantly know that you are now their family.

    • If Applicant Is Interested In Fostering
    • The following questions are for those who are interested in fostering. If you did not choose "Foster" or "Both" at the top of this application, please disregard the questions/information in this section and move onto the "Signature/End Application" portion.

    • Signatures/End of Application
    • By signing this application, I (we), ________________________acknowledge that my (our) family is willing to take a Great Dane into our home. I (we) understand that the exact nature of the dog may not be entirely known. While every attempt is made to learn as much as possible about every dog received by RMGDRI, it is possible that damage to our residence, other pets, and/or individuals may occur.

    • By signing this application, I (we), ________________________ acknowledge that Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue, Inc., (the "Rescue") shall not be responsible for any bodily injuries, property damage or damage to other animals caused by any adoptive/foster Great Dane/Dane mix. The foster/adoptive (circle all that apply) person(s) hereby specifically assumes sole responsibility for, and agrees to indemnify and hold the Rescue harmless from any and all loss and expenses (including legal fees) by reason of liability imposed by law upon the Rescue or any of its officers, directors, members, employees, representatives, agents, or assigns, because of bodily injuries or death to any person or persons or any damage to property or animals arising out of or in consequence of the placement of the foster or adopted Great Dane/Dane mix howsoever such injuries, death or damage to property or animals may be caused, whether or not the same may have been caused, or may be alleged to have been caused, by negligence of the aforementioned parties or any of their directors, members, employees, representatives, agents, or assigns or any other person.

    • If a Great Dane is placed with me (us), I (we) agree to cooperate with Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue, Inc. (RMGDRI) in its attempt to provide a smooth transition for the Great Dane or Dane mix. I (we) also agree to contact RMGDRI about problems that might arise in the future. Should the dog need to be removed, or euthanized (prior to normal old age), I (we) will contact Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue, Inc. first to determine whether the dog might be a candidate for placement elsewhere.

    • If a Great Dane is placed with me (us), I (we) understand that the rescue will follow up via email in various increments throughout the first year of ownership. I (we) agree to respond to the follow up emails with updates on how the Great Dane/Dane mix is doing and how they are adjusting to their new life.
