  • A Note from Your Chairwoman

    Thank you for your interest in our Society and our scholarship opportunity. I am thrilled to announce that for the first time we now offer our application electronically and online. 

    Every year we look forward to reading and learning about all of our daughters who apply for our scholarship. Please take your time and review all the information below before beginning your application. All applications need to be fully completed before submission.

    The deadline for applications is Monday March 15th at 5:00pm EST. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me dusascholarships@gmail.com if you have any concerns or questions during the application process.

  • Application Information for New Applicants:

    The application will ask you for the following information

    1. Expected Annual Academic Expenses (i.e. tuition, room & board, lab fees, books, etc.)
    2. How you expect to pay for your education - you will be asked to list sources that you have or have applied for (i.e. other scholarships, grants, and/or family contribution) and what costs the other sources can be used to cover (i.e. tuition, room & board, lab fees, books, etc.)
    3. Family Income
    4. Name and Email Contact for up to three References - your references will receive an email request to provide us with a reference letter for you, make sure they check their junk email.
    5. Required Attachments:
      • Proof of your qualifying parent / grandparent’s service. (See listing below for description of acceptable proofs of service.  Do not send birth certificates or original documents.)  Social security numbers should be marked out.
      • A resumé describing your education, work experience, extracurricular activities (e.g. service hours & interests).
      • At least 3 ½ years of official transcript(s) to include your most recent grades (i.e. the fall semester of the academic year in which you are applying) and GPA(s).
      • Two essays 500-650 words each:
        • Essay #1 - Tells us about yourself. Please include the following topics in your essay:
          • What you hope to do with your life
          • A significant life experience
          • What the U.S. Army means to you
        • Essay #2 - Name the source of the following quote (who said it and when) and then discuss the quote. 
          • “Accomplishment will prove to be a journey, not a destination.”
    6. Optional Attachments:
      • SAT / ACT scores. If you are a college student and do not have any of these; or your college or university no longer requires SAT/ACT scores and you have not taken either, please include a note explaining your situation.

  • Application Information for Renewing Scholars:

    The application will ask you for the following information

    1. Annual Academic Expenses (i.e. tuition, room & board, lab fees, books, etc.)
    2. Any major financial changes since you were last awarded our scholarship
    3. Family Income
    4. Required Attachments:
      • Proof of your qualifying parent / grandparent’s service. (See listing below for description of acceptable proofs of service.  Do not send birth certificates or original documents.)  Social security numbers should be marked out.
      • Official transcript to include your grades and GPA. Please ensure it is stamped and signed by your school before uploading.
  • Qualifications for Eligibility

    An applicant must be the daughter or granddaughter, including adopted or step, of a career warrant officer or commissioned officer* of the United States Army, whose primary occupation is/was the Army, and:

    • who is currently on active duty in the Army, or
    • who retired from the Army after at least 20 years on active duty or who was medically retired from the Army. ("Medically retired" is not necessarily the same as "retired with a disability"), or
    • who died while on active duty in the Army.

    *Warrant Officer 1-5, 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Lieutenant, Captain, Major, Lieutenant Colonel, Colonel, or General Officer.

    Acceptable Forms of Proof

    Please provide one of the following as proof of your qualifying parent/grandparents service.

    • Officer Record Brief, or
    • Form DD 214, or
    • Most recent PCS or retirement orders, or
    • For Active Duty Officers: Both sides of officer's and daughter's military identification cards.

    Please Note!

    • Unacceptable forms include original documents of any kind, and copies of commendations, citations, commissions, or any document which does not confirm rank, component, duty status and length of service. Do not send a birth certificate.
    • Incomplete or Ineligible applications will be immediately disqualified. Please fill out the scholarship application in its entirety. If you are unsure of a section please email the Scholarship Chair  dusascholarships@gmail.com  with any questions before submitting.
