    SELECTION PROCESS:
    To be eligible, riders must meet the following criteria:

    • Have competed at a minimum of two (2) official EV Dressage events as an AOR identified combination in the previous 12 month period
    • Submit two (2) scores within the selection period which satisfy the following minimum scores:
      o For Preliminary level – minimum 62%
      o For Novice level – minimum 62%
      o For Elementary to Grand Prix level – minimum 60%

    QUALIFYING COMPETITIONS:

    • Participation at all Official Dressage Competitions run under EA regulations will be accepted

    GENERAL SELECTION CRITERIA:

    • Selection is per horse and rider combination who have participated in official events as an AOR competitor.
    • Horses and riders must be sound and fit to satisfy competition standards. If this situation changes during the year, the Committee must be advised of these changes as soon as possible. If the horse or rider becomes unfit to compete due to injury or illness or other causes, the rider must contact the Squad Selectors with an anticipated recovery time and regularly communicate progress.
    • Riders must be Australian citizens or permanent residents and must be permanent residents of Victoria. 
    • Riders must be current financial members of Equestrian Victoria.
    • Riders must fulfill the requirements of the AOR status as published from time to time at equestrian.org.au
    • Both horses and ponies are eligible for selection
    • Provide a platform for riders to access top quality instruction
    • Provide a holistic approach to the athlete’s competition preparation by delivery complimentary education in all facets of the sport including horse management, ASADA, media and psychology
    • Develop a sense of camaraderie and professionalism in the Victorian dressage community
    • Riders must sign the Squad Contract and enclose this with their application
    • In the case where a rider or owner of the horse qualified does not comply with the Equestrian Australia rules, regulations and guidelines, including Athlete anti-doping and Equine Anti doping and Controlled Medication policies, during the selection period, this combination will not be eligible for Squad selection for a period of 12 months after the date of the sanction against them.

    For this application, the qualifying period for scores is July 1, 2020 to June 30 2021

    Applications are due by midnight June 30th 2021, no late or incomplete applications will be accepted.

  • RIDERS AGREEMENT – DV AOR SQUAD


    Athlete Undertakings

    I acknowledge and agree that, during the Term, I will comply with:

    a)  The Athlete’s code of Conduct, EA Member protection policy, EA/EV Social Media policy and EA anti-doping policy;
    b)  All policies and procedures of EA and EV as notified to me before or during the Term;
    I represent and agree that:

    a)  I am a resident of Victoria and a member of EV;
    b)  I will immediately advise the selectors if the horse on the squad is sold or becomes unfit to participate in squad activities, or if for some reason I cannot ride for an extended period.


    Media and public statements

    a)  I acknowledge and agree that as a member of EA and EV, I am at all times bound by their Constitution, Policies, By Laws and Codes of Conduct and will not bring EA or EV into disrepute.
    b)  I agree that I will raise any issue or concern that I may have in respect to selection, selectors, selection policies, training and squad/team policies and management or conduct or another Athlete and any related matters, only through the AOR Sub-Committee or Chair of EV.
    Squad activities requirement

    Athletes who accept to be a member of the EV squad agree to comply with the following commitment:

    a)  To attend a minimum of 2 training clinics per year. This can be satisfied by any of the following:

    Formal lessons with one of the designated AOR coaches at the clinics;
    Riding protocol tests clinics where such is available.
    b)  To participate in any nominated non riding activities held at AOS Squad clinics such as promotion, social or education activities.
