Mary Waddell served as the Executive Secretary of the United Way of Henderson County. She was the embodiment of community service and volunteerism, who generously gave her time and talents to professionally uphold the organization's values and mission to improve people's lives in Henderson County.
The Mary Waddell Memorial Scholarship was established to honor her memory as a community servant and leader in the Athens community and Henderson County.
Scholarship Criteria
- Recipient agrees to serve on the Henderson County United Way Board of Directors as a student representative.
- Recipient agrees to volunteer and participate at (1) Henderson County United Way organized community event.
- Prepare and deliver a speech about community service at the Henderson County United Way Awards luncheon.
Scholarship Awards
Three scholarship awards: 1st place finalist receives $5,000 award; 2nd and 3rd place runner-ups each receive $2,000 awards.
The Scholarship Committee will interview all finalists. Winners will be notified on or before the 28th of April 2023.
