Participants must be a junior in high school, including private school, home school, and charter school students.

Program Mission

Leadership Cherokee is a unique seven-month leadership development program and learning experience designed to bring together a diverse, creative, and energetic group of individuals in pursuit of Cherokee County's brightest future. Leadership Cherokee offers a full-day session once a month over the course of seven months. Participants represent a cross-sector of the community including young/new professionals, future community leaders, citizens who want to become more civically involved, and high school juniors with a desire to serve.

Graduation Requirements

Applicants are encouraged to consider the following: The Junior Leadership Cherokee program begins with orientation in August and ends with graduation in April. Sessions are one full school day. Attendance is expected for all sessions for graduation. The Board of Regents will review absences to determine whether they will be excused. Participants are expected to take part in all required program enrichment activities. Failure to complete required activities will prevent the participant from successfully completing the program.

YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE JUDGED BASED ON ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT,
PARTICIPATION IN SCHOOL AND NON-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES, PRESENTATION OF APPLICATION RESPONSES, AND LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION. INCOMPLETE OR LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

In addition to the application, applicants will be expected to participate in an interview. The interview will be scheduled once the initial application is reviewed.
