Statement of Faith
Camp Iron Sights has choosen to use Christian Biblical principles to guide its programs so they can help to ensure sound moral teachings to help our youth. They require a statment of faith to be a Mentor for a youth but If you have not given your life to Christ you may still be eligable to help as a Camp Counselor. Participation Covenant statement
Guiding Influence and Camp Iron Sights are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all youth and volunteers who participate. The following policy statements reflect our commitment to preserving these programs as a place of protection for all who would be involved as well as a place where all can benefit and grow in a positive way.
Guidelines for working with youth

1) No poerson who has been convicted of child abuse (either sexual abuse, physical abuse, mental abuse, or emotional abuse) should volunteer to work with youth in any of our related programs or activities.

2) Some roles working with youth require that one be a member of Guiding Influnece. Memberships may be purchase through their website http://www.guidinginfluence.org/get-involved.html

3) Persons working with youth shall attend regular training and team building events to keep volunteers informed about our programs.

4) Mentors should attend camp for at least one day to meet and connect with the youth before they mentor them.

5) Persons working with youth shall immediatly report to their supervisor any behavior that seems abusive or inappropriate.
Additional guidelines for working with youth

1) Effective leaders will carry on a realtionally based ministry, which at times will require one-on-one counseling/meeting with a youth. Mentors should meet with youth in public places that offer accountability to protect themselves and the youth

2) Camp Counselors should not be alone with the youth in a cabin

3) Persons working with youth will not have "sleepovers" / "camping trips" unless another certified Guiding Influence or Camp Iron Sights volunteer is present and the trip has been approved by a supervisor/department head.
