  • Music can be an awfully powerful motivator in our lives, both in a negative and positive sense. In a positive sense, you can choose songs that represent recovery as well as motivation in your journey of creating a new life. In a negative sense, music can trigger certain mindsets as well as a relapse. Choose what you listen to wisely. Be careful with your music choice because it can creep up on you and trigger your brain to remember a time in the past associated with dependency. This is called state-dependent memory and it can be very devious. Most of the time we recall the pleasurable moments in our dependency and omit all the disastrous consequences. Be mindful of the small details in your wellness journey.
