  • RA APPLICATIONS ARE DUE FEBRUARY 9TH BY 11:59PM.

    The Resident Assistant (RA) is selected to be an integral member of the Student Development staff. She/He reports to and is directly accountable to a Resident Director (RD). The RA lives and works with residents in areas of discipleship and accountability, community development, administration, and general operation of the residential community. The RA supports and promotes the mission statements of Erskine College and the Office of Student Development.

    Mission of the Division of Student Development:

    To encourage a Christ-centered community by offering programs and services focused on the holistic development of students and designed to fully support the mission and purpose of Erskine College.

    Mission of ResLife:

    To foster a culture of community that spurs students toward a greater grasp of their identity, informing responsible decision making in the hope of uncovering their purpose and satisfaction in Christ.

    Qualifications

    1. Sophomore class status or higher in Fall 2025.

    2. Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 at the time of application and maintained during his/her term of service as an RA.

    3. Maintain full-time student status (9 credit hours).

    4. Commitment to the mission and goals of Erskine College and the Office of Student Development.

    Dates

    RAs must be able to return to campus no later than August 3rd for Residence Life Training and New Student Orientation. Residence Life staff are required to remain in the halls until the buildings close for each university break. RA obligations for 2026-2027 will end around at 5:00 PM on Graduation. Please see the RA position description for additional requirements and responsibilities.

  • Within your cover letter please address the following:

    Why are you interested in applying for the RA position?

    In what ways have you been involved in your residence hall this year?

    Your resume should look as though you are applying for a job in your chosen field of study or completing requirements for a graduate or professional program. The RA position provides you with many transferable skills. Your resume should include:

    An education section with a list of your current and previous educational background. Your previous employment history which should include the job title, dates of employment, responsibilities of the position, and an explanation of skills learned that will benefit you in the RA position. Any leadership roles you have held. You need to provide the specific leadership role, organization, and dates of involvement. Be sure to include the experiences that will make you successful as an RA. List the organization(s), both on campus and in your community, you have been involved with but may not have held a leadership position. You should also include any community service, elaborating on the opportunities you have had to serve the community as a volunteer. Finally, list any honors or awards you have received. Include the date you received it.

  • Section 3: RA Shadow Experience

  • Shadowing will consist of following an RA throughout the course of a regular active duty night (9PM-12AM) and will provide an opportunity for candidates to get a true sense of what is involved in the RA position. Please select an RA and schedule a night to shadow them. RA candidates will need to complete the Shadow Experience process and complete the form attached to this application. This ought to be completed by February 7th so the application deadline can be met.

  • Section 4: RA Reference

  • Applicants to be a new RA will ask their current RA to fill out a reference form for them. This ought to be given to the RA by February 6th so they have time to fill out the form and turn it in by February 9th. Please share the link attached below with your current RA.

  • Individual interviews will take place February 16th-19th. You will recieve an email to sign up for interview times after you turn in your application.

    The group interview will take place on February 23rd at 9 PM. If you are invited to attend after the individual interview round, you will be expected to attend and participate.
