• EPS Ban Exemption Application Form

  • In November 2020, City Council adopted an ordinance banning Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) food and beverage containers in the City of Ventura.

EPS, commonly known at Styrofoam, is a prevalent form of litter found in our storm drains, creeks, rivers, beaches, parks, and opens spaces, and negatively impacts the local environment.  Food vendors that currently use EPS food and beverage containers such as cups, plates, bowls, clamshells, coolers, and other containers can apply for a one year exemption from the ordinance if non-EPS alternatives are not available or affordable, or if there is a public health and safety requirement or medical necessity to use EPS containers. Please complete the form below to submit your exemption application. .
  • For questions about the ordinance and to receive assistance complying with the ordinance, call (805) 652-4525, or email EPSban@cityofventura.ca.gov.

The full ordinance text, including which business types and food containers are covered by this ordinance, can be found here.
