PPZ Executive Director Job Description
Position Title: Executive Director of the Pontiac Promise Zone
Salary/Pay Rate: $50-75K: Board will establish compensation commensurate with education and experience.
Position Notes: Reports to the Chair/Board of Directors.
Possess executive leadership skills, representing the Pontiac Promise Zone (PPZ) to internal and external stakeholders including university, college, trade school and high school administrators, elected officials, community leaders, business and non-profit organizations.
Shift/Days: This is a full time position. Some weekends, late nights may be required.
Pay Schedule: Monthly, Executive Director is an independent sub-contractor of the PPZ.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree preferred and/or Bachelor’s degree in Administration, Education, Communications or related field of study.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
• Oversee the efforts to build awareness of the Pontiac Promise Zone mission, goals and objectives.
• Engage the Pontiac School District administrators and staff to provide expert consultation in student recruitment, and community outreach programs that benefit Pontiac students.
• Ensure financial assistance to students who qualify for the PPZ scholarship.
• Oversee the PPZ application process, budget for operations and monthly reports to the board of directors.
• Provide strategic direction and planning for marketing and communication in the Pontiac community to increase awareness of PPZ scholarships, post-secondary education and career opportunities.
• Work directly with school administrators to conduct workshops to increase the number of students who complete FAFSA and qualify for PPZ scholarship opportunities.
• Oversee and analyze the budget and data required by Board of Directors, ensuring fiscally sound operations.
• Develop accounting procedures for scholarship funds that include checks and balances to be approved by the board of directors.
• Within 120 days after the end of the fiscal year, ensure the presentation of the audited financial statement of the PPZ for the fiscal year to the board of directors.
• Represent the Pontiac Promise Zone at meetings and public interactions, serving as a spokesperson in a variety of settings.
• Develop and strengthen fundraising efforts by identification of committee members and donor cultivation opportunities.
• Ensure planning and implementation of the PPZ annual meeting and annual report.
• Participate in local events, as well as the State of Michigan Public Policy meetings and workshops.
