Finke Race Bike Set Up 2024

It is now time to provide us with some general information along with your preferences in relation to the set up of your race bike. This will give us the opportunity to ensure the bike is ready to go when you arrive for the Wednesday pre-run ride and the race itself.

Your bike will be supplied with the following;

New chain and sprockets (15/48 gearing).
New Motoz tyres and H/D tubes.
Scotts Steering Stabiliser utilising a BRP rubber mounted sub-mount. This set-up raises the standard bar height by 20mm over standard.
Steg pegz (HD Desert King 'further back' model with 3 rubbers).
SK Designs race graphics including your race number and name.
Suspension set-up to your weight and intended speed (including correct spring rates).
Your choice of seat.
Your choice of grips.
Your choice of hand guards.

i.e. Gluten intolerant, hate tomatoes, vegetarian, etc. This is for our catering at the Finke overnight campsite - we'd hate for you to go hungry because there's nothing that you can eat!...

How would you describe your intended speed for the race?*

Please give us an idea of what your capabilities and intentions are (i.e. 'I'm going for a class win' or 'I'm just in it to finish within the time cut-off', or 'I'm aiming for top 100'). The base settings of your suspension will vary depending on your intentions for the event.

What type of hand grips would you like to use?

Please tell us the brand and model of grips you'd like fitted to your bike. We recommend opting for grips that you are familiar with and have used before. A lot of first time Finke riders think they need to run foam 'rallye' grips but these are very thick and can cause excessive arm pump - 9 out of 10 guys will usually swap them out before the race because of this very reason....
