This foster agreement, or contract, is made on the date labeled above by and between Leah’s Little Feline Friends Rescue and Foster residing at the address listed above. This agreement is valid for any current or future animals in the foster’s care on behalf of Leah’s Little Feline Friends Rescue. The foster agrees to the following:
CARE OF PET
a. Foster shall accept and consider the pet as a household companion, not an outside pet. Foster must also provide proper care for the animal such as food, water, shelter, enrichment, and socialization. Pet will not be abused in any manner. The Pet will not be permitted to leave the property unless accompanied by a mature individual. Pet shall not be the subject of or subjected to any biological, chemical, or psychological experiments.
b. Pet shall be allowed to sleep indoors and protected from any harsh environments. Pet shall not be housed outside at any time. The Pet shall not be allowed to roam free outside.
c. Foster shall immediately notify Leah's Little Feline Friends Rescue if the Pet is stolen or lost, and shall make every responsible effort to recover the pet.
d. Pet shall not be given up or sold to another person, friend, relative, or any other individual, rescue group, humane association, shelter, or adoption center unless preapproved by Leah's Little Feline Friends Rescue.
e. Foster shall not under any circumstance give up or sell the Pet for any medical or experimental laboratory or any organization.
f. Foster shall not alter the Pet's appearance in any way (i.e. declawing)
g. Foster permits Leah's Little Feline Friends Rescue to visit at any reasonable convenient times to check on the well being of the animal. If the Foster is not local, they must be willing to do a virtual home tour/visit to show where the foster will be residing throughout its stay with Foster
h. Foster understands that when they first foster a kitten or cat, the animal must be quarantined from any other pet in the home until that animal has been thoroughly vaccinated and tested. This is to ensure that the Fosters personal animals do not run the risks of developing any diseases or viruses that the Foster animal may have. The Foster should keep the animal in a separate room from all other animals. Ideally, the animal should be kept in a large crate or appropriate enclosure for their safety and health until they have been vet checked and cleared for any diseases and viruses.
VET APPOINTMENTS
a. Foster is responsible for transporting animal to and from appointments. If Foster is unable to go to that appointment, they must notify Leah's Little Feline Friends Rescue at least 24-48 hours before the appointment so they can find transport in a timely manner to the appointment or reschedule the appointment.
b. If Pet is not spayed or neutered at the time this contract is signed, Foster must arrange through the the Rescue to have the pet spayed or neutered at one of Leah's Little Feline Friends Rescue's approved veterinary partners. Foster shall not breed pet.
c. Foster shall immediately notify the Rescue if the Pet ends up injured, ill, or ends up passing away while in the fosters care period.
FOOD AND SUPPLIES
a. Foster should notify the Rescue about supplies or food needed and it be provided at no cost.
b. If Foster voluntarily chooses to purchase something with his or her own money, that is entirely up to them. We recommend keeping them on the foods we normally use which include; Purina cat and kitten chow, Fancy Feast Wet Food, Friskies Shreds or Paté, etc. Any purchases made voluntarily by the Foster are not reimbursed by Leah's Little Feline Friends Rescue.
INTEGRATING PET INTO HOME
a. Foster shall allow a reasonable amount of time for the Pet to adjust to new surroundings. This should be done after the quarantine hold is up.
b. For the safety of the household and or any other pets in the home, Foster is required to carefully introduce the pet to the other animals. Pet should be separated from all other animals in the home for a few days (or a few weeks if not fully vaccinated). Slow introductions are required for each Pet which will create a more balanced transition period for the Pet. If you do not follow, Leah's Little Feline Friends reserves the right to remove Pet from Foster's home and Foster will not be allowed to Foster another Pet.
EVENTS AND PROMOTION
a. Foster must attend at least one event with the Pet to promote Pet for adoption. (If we have one. We will notify you when an event is about to take place)
b. Leah's Little Feline Friends networks Pets available for adoption through various methods including Facebook, Instagram, and our personal website. Foster is responsible for assisting in Networking his or her foster kitten through personal contact, by bringing him or her to events, by posting Pet online, and by providing photos and videos as well as a good description of Pet for networking. This is so we can find them the perfect home.
FOSTER PERIOD
a. Foster understands the commitment he or she is making by agreeing to foster Pet and that there is no definitive time frame in which the animal will be with Foster. It may take weeks or possibly longer for Pet to be adopted.
