Reiki is where the Practioner channels 'Life-Force' or 'Spiritually Guided' Energy to the client via the use of their hands. The Guided Energy enables the Reiki to flow through the affected parts of the subjects energy field and charges them with Positive Healing Energy. It raises awareness in and around the body where negative thoughts and feelings are contained. This causes the Negative Energy - such as Stress, Anxiety, Physical Pain, Sadness, Depression, Confusion, etc, to gently release.
The Energy that is channelled is Pure Reiki and the Practitioners own Energy is not being used. Therefore, no bad or sick energy can be chanelled to you or back to the practitioner - protecting both parties.
The Reiki session can last from anything between an hour and a hour and a half. Chronic cases and physical problems can take more than one treatment, since they have taken longer to manifest in the body.
During the treatment you will be asked to remove only your shoes and directed to lay on a couch. The Practitioner will guide you into a state of relaxation before gently moving their hands over your body, only lightly touching. Whilst you are in a relaxed state, you may experience visions, pictures, colours or even memories during the treatment. You might feel a slight ache in an area where a bone has been broken, where you have had surgery or where you are currently experiencing pain, plus the possiblity of feeling hot or cold.

This is extremely important because during treatment your system will be open and sensitive and will remain so for at least 24 hours.
Please note that there are slight side effects after having a Reiki treatment. There is nothing to worry about as the effects are mild and this is just to make you aware of the possibilities:
- You may want to use the toilet more than usual.
- You may suddenly be overcome with joy or even sadness.
- You may sweat more than ususal.
- You may feel more tired than usual.
Overall most clients leave a Reiki session feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, positive and relaxed.
