• Sacramental Preparation Program for

First Holy Communion & First Reconciliation

    St. Wilfrid’s Roman Catholic Church

    School Year 2020-2021

Dear Parents of Grade 2/3 Students,

It’s been a year now that Covid-19 pandemic affected the operations of businesses, schools as well as parishes all over the world. It is a very challenging time and I hope that we are all coping properly despite the trials we are facing during this time of pandemic.

Due to continued restrictions on people gathering whether for social or educational purposes, the St. Wilfrid’s Parish will conduct this year’s Sacramental Preparation Program via online learning for Grade 2/3 students rather than the traditional in-class learning at the church. If you desire your child to receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion this school year, you must register your child to the catechism program.

Below is the registration form. Kindly fill-up and submit it. The deadline to submit the form is on February 17., 2021.

Our first online meeting will be on February 20. This session is for briefing/orientation for parents and students regarding the program to discuss the schedule of classes as well as program requirements. We will send you an invite to join the orientation session. It is important that you provide the email address to be used for google class as indicated in the registration form. This is the email that we will use to allow your child to join the online catechism class.

As an overview, the class will be every Saturday from 10am to 11:30am. There will be a total of 10 classes staring February 27 until May 15, 2021. The dates for your child’s First Reconciliation/Confession as well as the First Holy Communion ceremony will be advised later when there are no more restrictions and that churches will be open again for public masses and sacramental ceremonies.

More information on the program as well as detailed schedule of classes will be discussed during orientation. If you have any questions, please contact the parish at (416) 638-0313.

    Yours in Christ,

    Gloria Publico, Confirmation Co-ordinator

Father Paolos Beraki, Pastor, St. Wilfrid’s Parish

  • PART II: PARISH INFORMATION

Due to Covid-19 restrictions in our City and Province, the church is open for private prayers only. All masses are done via live stream at St Wilfrid Facebook account. We encourage that children and their family who will enroll in the program for the Sacraments of Reconciliation & First Communion will attend online Mass on a regular basis. This is an important part of Catholic faith commitment and is critical in preparing your child for the Sacraments. Information regarding online mass can be found at St Wilfrid’s website.

Families that are part of another parish community are encouraged to receive the Sacrament at that other parish. Please check the appropriate section, A, B or C, below:

  • PART III: Understanding OF THE REQUIREMENTS

Please read and sign below to indicate that all the above information is true and that you understand the requirements of the program.

By registering your child for the Sacrament of Confirmation, you affirm their commitment to the Catholic faith and understand that:

    • Classes will be held online at the moment but we will have some in-person classes close to the end of the program (sometime in May) or when gathering restrictions will be lifted in our city.

    • Your child must be participating in online class discussions and learn prayers and bible stories as assigned per class session.

    • Your child must be attending online Mass on a regular basis.

Students who are unable to meet these requirements will be considered unprepared and WILL NOT be allowed to receive the Sacrament this year.
