Do you have a specific gem type in mind?

For engagement ring stones, we normally recommend sapphire due to its hardness and durability. However, with proper care, other gems are perfectly acceptable as well. Please select from one of the following options:
Sapphire
Spinel
Chrysoberyl / Alexandrite
Can't decide from the above
Other gem not listed (you'll get to specify)
I have no idea - please help!

Sapphire
Excellent choice! Sapphire is the hardest and most durable colored gem overall, and it is hard to think of a better choice for an engagement ring. Click the "next" arrow to continue telling us about your preferences.

What general color family or families appeal to you? Sapphires come in just about every color of the rainbow, so you have a ton of options to choose from! You can select more than one, if you're undecided. Just focus on the basic color for now. We'll discuss how light/dark you want in a moment. (for example, if you are ultimately looking for a lavender sapphire, choose purple below as the basic color family)

Chrysoberyl / Alexandrite
While not quite as hard as a sapphire, chrysoberyl is still considered quite durable among colored gems and with proper care makes an excellent engagement ring stone. As you may know, color-change chrysoberyl is given the special name "Alexandrite." Click the "next" arrow to continue telling us about your preferences.

How "dark" or saturated do you want?
*
This field is required.
OK, so this can be a complicated and confusing topic! There are two somewhat related properties that combine to define what most people think of how "rich," "saturated," or "dark" a gem is. Those properties are called "tone" and "saturation." Rather than getting into the details of what those terms mean, let's just talk about a rough categorization based on the 4 selections below. Blue sapphire is used here for simplicity. If you chose something other than a blue sapphire above, the "hue" (or color) will be different, but the basic concept will be the same. Please choose your ideal darkness/saturation, or choose two to illustrate the lightest and darkest that you would find acceptable. Please note that some gem types do not span this entire spectrum of tone/saturation, but that is a detail that we can discuss in our follow-up conversation.

What size gem are you looking for?
*
This field is required.
Carat weight and face-up size (length and width) depend on one another, so it isn't a good idea to try to target something specific for both of them. Most customers either want to target a specific weight range or a specific face-up size. Please indicate which is most important to you:
