Kō te manu kai I te miro nōna te ngāhere, kō te manu, kai I te Mātauranga nōna te āo. The forest belongs to the bird who feast on the miro berry, the world belongs to the bird who feast on education.

Welcome and thank you for your interest in Ngā Manu Pūtohe. Our very first rangatahi group based in Logan, Brisbane QLD 2021.

This roopu was formed by Tutor Skye Moa and Kaiāwhina Marley Maiava and Braxton Hohepa collectively with over 20 years experience.

Our vision is to focus on young students and Māori youth who grew up in Australia who have never lived on their tūrangawaewae. We wanted to come up with creative ways to teach, share and hold onto our culture, to fill their kete with mātauranga.
Classes

Start date : 9th March - 20th July ( Every Tuesday evening at Marsden State High School - Dance studio )

**Please note - School holidays not included

Throughout the program students will be learning and participating in the below items. The students will also be holding a performance 24th July 2021 to showcase what they have learnt and there will also be a fundraiser for uniforms. Tickets will also be available for purchase for the showcase performance.
- Karakia mo te Timatanga - Prayer to commence.
- Karakia mo te kai - blessing of food.
- Karakia mo te whakamutunga - Prayer to conclude.
- Pepeha and how to introduce yourself.
- Himene - Learning hymn songs
- Waiata-a-ringa - Action songs
- Haka - War dance
- Poi - An object used in a song/dance to enhance the beauty of our wahine.
- Tirakau - An object (stick) used to strengthen wrists and arm movements. Also used as a performance tool.
Ngā Pēpi (5 - 9 years old)

Time: 4.15pm - 5pm

Costs: $100

Teina (10 - 13 years old)

Time: 5pm - 6pm

Costs: $150

Tuakana (14 - 18 years old)

Time: 6pm - 7pm

PAYMENT DETAILS

The cost for each student must be paid in full before the 1st class commences, unless alternative payment arrangements have been made prior. Please email ngamanuputohe@gmail.com directly if you would like to discuss further.

Upon completion of your registration form, please make payment to the following bank account using the ‘student name’ as reference so that we can allocate the payment to the correct person. To secure your spot a non refundable $50 deposit is required.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Fees to be paid for all students by Tuesday 9th March 2021

Strictly NO REFUNDS on term fees or missed classes. Please do not miss classes unless unwell. STUDENTS: In paying term fees you are agreeing to commit to taking your place in class for the duration of the term.

Dance routines and creations is not to be performed else where other than Ngā Manu Pūtohe shows unless discussed with Tutor.

Without expectation of compensation or other remuneration, now or in the future, I hereby give my consent to Ngā Manu Pūtohe, its affiliates and agents, to use my image and likeness and/or any interview statements from me in its publications, advertising or other media activities (including the Internet). This consent includes, but is not limited to:

(a) Permission to interview, film, photograph, tape, or otherwise make a video reproduction of me and/or record my voice;

(b) Permission to use my name; and

(c) Permission to use quotes from the interview(s) (or excerpts of such quotes), the film, photograph(s), tape(s) or reproduction(s) of me, and/or recording of my voice, in part or in whole, in its publications, in newspapers, magazines and other print media, on television, radio and electronic media (including the Internet), in theatrical media and/or in mailings for educational and awareness.

This consent is given in perpetuity, and does not require prior approval by me.
