  • The ROC Student Ministry Summer Internship is designed to encourage and equip those who feel the Lord calling them into future full-time ministry. The Student Staff hopes to do this by developing the Intern’s own walk with Christ and help the Intern grow as a preacher, planner, small group/Bible study leader, and as a discipler. The Intern will serve a special role in assisting the Student Ministry by building relationships with students and helping plan and implement weekly Student Ministry events.

    End Date: August

    Character Expectations

    The Intern must understand that all attitudes, words, and actions are a representation of River Oak Church, and, more importantly, of Jesus. Therefore, we expect interns to live a lifestyle that is above reproach. Additional character qualities that we expect of the intern include:

    • Spiritual maturity (See 1 Tim. 3)
    • Team player.
    • Teachable. Eager to learn and receive instruction and critique with humility.
    • Hard-working.
    • Dependable.
    • Communicate well with Student staff.

    Personal Growth Expectations

    • Attend service each Sunday.
    • Spend daily time with the Lord through prayer and the Word
    • Weekly 1-on-1s with Student Pastor.
    • Read the books provided by Student Ministry Staff

    Work Expectations

    • Minimum 20-30 hours per week (See schedule below)
    • Minimum commitment of 10 weeks during the summer
    • Must be able to attend VBS (June 23-27) and Summer Camp (July 21-25)
    • Lead weekly small groups and Bible studies 
    • Preach to students at least once over the summer
    • Weekly Sermon Prep and Review
    • Help Student Staff with Curriculum prep
    • Invest in discipling relationships with students.
    • Help plan and implement weekly Student Ministry activities.
    • Attend MS and HS Summer Harbor and After Effects.
