Friends Home Delivery Service

South Orange residents: the Friends of the Library will deliver library books and DVDs to your home while the Library's Scotland Road building is closed for renovations, and will pick them up two or three weeks later. Home delivery is provided to residents of South Orange for whom travel to the Library's temporary location at 298 Walton Avenue presents a specific hardship. The Friends of the Library are pleased to provide home delivery to the South Orange community.

Rules and Procedures

To register, South Orange residency and a South Orange Public Library card are required. (Need a card? Call the Library at 973-762-0230).
Borrowing limit: 10 library items (including adult books, children’s books, and DVDs). Due dates will be marked in each item.
Deliveries and pick-ups will take place on Thursday afternoons.
Once registered, you can request delivery and/or pick-up of library items by calling 973-762-0230 or e-mailing librarian@sopl.org Your request for Thursday delivery or pick-up must be made no later than 4pm Wednesday.
A volunteer delivery driver may call you when he/she arrives with your library materials. By filling out this form, you agree to share your address and phone number with SOPL Friends volunteers.
If requested materials are not available, you will be placed on a waiting list. Borrowed items may be renewed unless there is a waiting list; call the Library or email librarian@sopl.org to check, or log in to your library account to renew online.
