Friends Book Delivery Service

South Orange residents: the Friends will deliver library books and DVDs to your home during the pandemic, and will pick them up three weeks later. Home delivery is provided to residents of South Orange for whom travel to the Library presents a specific hardship.The Friends initiated this service in February 2021, and by popular demand, have extended it through June 2022. We’re very happy to provide this service to the South Orange community!

Rules and Procedures

South Orange residency and a South Orange Public Library card are required. (Need a card? Just call 973-762-0230).
Borrowing limit: 10 library items (including adult books, children’s books, and DVDs). Due dates will be marked in each item.
All deliveries and pick-ups will take place weekly on Thursdays, between 2-6pm.
Once registered, you can request delivery and/or pick-up of library items by calling 973-762-0230 or e-mailing pickup@sopl.org Your request for Thursday delivery or pick-up must be made no later than 5pm Wednesday.
A volunteer delivery driver will call you when he/she arrives with your library materials. By filling out this form, you agree to share your address and phone number with SOPL Friends volunteers.
If requested materials are not available, you will be placed on a waiting list. Borrowed items may be renewed unless there is a waiting list; call the Library or email pickup@sopl.org to check, or log in to renew online.
Because of COVID restrictions and to better assist the weekly pickup schedule, there will be flexibility about overdue fines at the discretion of the Library.
