  • Background

    Pursuant to C.R.S. § 16-11.8-103, the Domestic Violence Offender Management Board (DVOMB) is seeking applications for individuals who are mental health professionals with expertise in domestic violence. The DVOMB supports a diversity of viewpoints and life experience among appointed members. In accordance with Executive Order D2020 175, the Colorado Department of Public Safety (CDPS) “shall respect and value life experiences from community residents to ensure that State agency staff hear diverse perspectives and actively build relationships with a goal of full participation. This includes involving community partners in decision-making from the beginning to end of projects, as well as measuring diversity and inclusion efforts on State boards and commissions appointed by the Governor's Office.” The DVOMB encourages anyone interested to apply including those who identify as a member or can represent a member of a minority population (e.g., rural or underserved communities, LGBTQ+ individuals, individuals living with disabilities, as well as those who identify their race/ethnicity as other than white).

    The following is an application for membership on the Colorado Domestic Violence Offender Management Board. Before completing the application, please review the criteria that will be used to select someone to fill this position.   • General Board Requirements

    Pursuant to C.R.S. § 16-11.8-103, the DVOMB consists of 19 members who must satisfy certain requirements prescribed by statute. Members of the DVOMB serve four‐year terms and no member can serve more than eight consecutive years. The DVOMB typically meets once per month on the second Friday of the month for a full day. Meeting locations are typically in the Denver Metro Area and meetings are also conducted via Webex. Board members are expected to attend a majority of the meetings and actively participate on one committee of the DVOMB.

  • Describe your willingness to commit to the Board’s purpose: “The general assembly hereby declares that the consistent and comprehensive evaluation, treatment, and continued monitoring of domestic violence offenders who have been convicted of, pled guilty to, or received a deferred judgment or prosecution for any crime the underlying factual basis of which includes an act of domestic violence as defined in section 18-6-800.3 (1), C.R.S., and who are subject to the supervision of the criminal justice system is necessary in order to work toward the elimination of recidivism by such offenders. Therefore, the general assembly hereby creates a program that standardizes the evaluation, treatment, and continued monitoring of domestic violence offenders at each stage of the criminal justice system so that such offenders will be less likely to offend again and the protection of victims and potential victims will be enhanced.”
