• Terms and Conditions of State License Testing

  • Washington State department of licensing fees and services are separate from Safe2Go’s fees and services.

    Safe2Go Driving School is authorized by the Department of Licensing to provide the Knowledge and Driving Tests.

    No refunds for state testing. Testing fees must be confirmed prior to scheduling due to the 24-hour entry limit.

    You must show up on time for your scheduled appointment. If you miss your appointment or are late, your test will be forfeit as if you had taken it and you will be required to repay the fee to schedule another test with us.

  • If you do not already have a permit, or WDL number both teen and adult applicants would need to first pre-apply by either visiting a Department of Licensing office or pre-apply online at dol.wa.gov and register on license express. You will be issued a WDL number which you need to provide to Safe2Go prior to testing.

    Applicants must provide necessary identification and if under the age of 18 show proof of completion of a driver’s education course that meets Washington legal requirements prior to State testing. Please see acceptable identification for State testing at dol.wa.gov

    • Both tests must be passed with a minimum score of 80% to obtain a Washington State driver’s license. Scores for the knowledge and driving test will be electronically reported to the Department of Licensing data base within 24 hours.
    • Passing the knowledge or driving test does not guarantee that an applicant will be issued a driver’s license. The Department of Licensing will determine if an applicant has met all licensing requirements.
    • If an applicant has a mental or physical condition that may impair your ability to drive (even temporarily), or if you received a letter from DOL to take a reexamination you must test at a DOL office. Failure to disclose this information prior to testing will result in your test not being honored at DOL to obtain your license and your testing fees will be forfeit.
    • The Department of Licensing reserves the right to conduct random re-examinations; applicants refusing to take a re-examination may have their license revoked.
  • Knowledge Test: Please note, we have the right to refuse service.

    • The Knowledge test consists of 40 multiple-choice questions. To pass the written test you must get 32 out of 40 correct. The applicant must pass with a score of 80% or higher.
    • The Washington state drivers guide contains the information needed to successfully pass the written test.
    • Applicants will be given 40 minutes to complete each test.
    • For those applicants who prefer privacy to complete the knowledge test we also offer a private session which includes the knowledge test where the applicant will have 60 minutes to test.
    • Each fee includes one test attempt only.
  • Driving Test: Please note, we have the right to refuse service.

    • The driving test will test applicant’s ability to drive legally and safely. The applicant must pass the driving test with a score of 80% or higher.
    • If you are under the age of 18 you must be at least 16 years old, successfully completed a traffic safety education course, have had your permit for at least 6 months, 50 hours driving experience with at least 10-night driving hours to apply for your driver’s license.
    • I have been informed of Washington’s intermediate licensing laws RCW 46.20.075
    • If the examiner is required to perform any corrective action (physically or verbally) your test will end, and you will need to retake the test and repay the fee. Each fee includes one test attempt only.
  • If using a Safe2Go vehicle: 

    If testing in a Safe2Go vehicle it may be required for you to purchase half an hour practice to become familiar with our vehicle.

    If using your vehicle: 

    The vehicle must be legal. Brakes and all 3 brake lights, turn signals, seat belts, passenger door must open and close from inside and outside. Driver door window must roll down far enough to allow you to use hand signals. Mirrors, Windshield wipers, headlights, and defrosters (if weather requires) must be functional, no cracks in windshield that obstruct the view (this will be up to the examiner to determine) legal tire tread. You must have a physical copy of proof of insurance, acceptable Identification.

  • Grievance/Complaint policy:
    All complaints must be submitted in writing and or emailed to Safe2Godrivingschool@gmail.com and received within 48 hours. It must contain the information necessary for us to review your case, provide dates, names of other parties involved and a summary and any effort you have already made to resolve the problem. Describe the events in the order they occurred and include copies of all the documents that you feel necessary that are related to the complaint.

  • A civil suit or action may not be commenced or prosecuted against the State of Washington or Safe2Go driving school or any other person, by reason of any act done or omitted in connection with administering the portions of the driver licensing examinations that test the applicant’s knowledge of traffic laws and ability to safely operate motor vehicle per RCW 46.01.

  • By signing this document, I acknowledge and agree to all Terms and conditions. I have been notified of Washington State Department of Licensing and Safe2Go’s policies and procedures.
