  • CLASS ACT Collegiate Award for Scholarship and Service

    The Charlotte (NC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated 

    • Selection Criteria  
    • Purpose:

      The CLASS ACT Award recognizes a student attending an HBCU for academic achievements and service to the community. Scholarship recipients are selected according to merit on a competitive basis. Applicants must demonstrate academic achievement and a commitment to community service. The scholarship is a one-time award.  Only scholarship winners will be contacted by the selection committee.

      Merit is demonstrated by past leadership, special talents and aptitudes and school and community involvement.

      Criteria:

      Applicants must:

      • Submit a completed typed application with signature
      • Provide proof of full-time enrollment 
        • Note: Freshman, Sophmores, and Juniors are eligible to apply
      • Submit an official college transcript with a G.P.A of 3.0 on 4.0 scale
      • Render on-going consistent (e.g minimum of three months or more/ 20+ hours ) service in the community working with youth, health & human services or the arts
      • Submit an electronic head shot (jpg format)
      • Submit two letters of recomendation:
        • One letter on letterhead from a college/university professor, adminstrator or other professional staff member
        • One letter on letterhead from a non-profit organization/agency official certifying the applicant completed at least three months/20 hours of consistent service

      Guidelines:

      The Scholarship recipient will be announced during the spring semester and disbursed the following fall semester.

      Amount:

      $2,000.00

      April 10, 2026

    • I hereby certify that:
       
      (1) I will be a full-time student as defined by my college or university


      (2) I will use the proceeds of the Charlotte (NC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated Scholarship for payment of books and school supplies


      (3) If I withdraw from this college or university, any remaining funds will be returned to the Charlotte (NC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated by said college or university


      (4) I understand that this scholarship is not renewable


      (5) I agree to allow the college or university officials to release transcripts and periodic information regarding my academic progress to the Charlotte (NC) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated

       

      (6) I agree that the Charlotte (NC) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated can use my photo and publish my academic accomplishments as a scholarship recipient
