Role of the Leaders:
Note: Leaders are the staff in dark blue shirts
Serving as role models and ambassadors of the University of St. Michael's College, leaders will work under the guidance of the Orientation Coordinators and Marshals to enforce the Principles of Orientation Week. They will contribute extensively to the welcoming and introduction of first-year students to St. Mike's during Orientation Week 2021.
Leaders will be assigned to teams of two to support a group of Orientees. From June-August, Leaders, who are comfortable, will moderate a Whatsapp group chat with their Orientees. Note: OC will provide the contact information for Leader to create group chats and will provide template messages throughout the summer to Leaders in maintaining their chats.
Leaders will encourage their Orientees to attend events during the summer and O-Week. Leader groups will also be paired with a Marshal and will work as a team to create content for our social media such as welcome videos.
Leaders will be expected to attend several socials (1.5-2 hr) during the months of June-August and attend all of O-Week.
All Leaders are required to become SafeTalk or LivingWorks START trained.
Successful candidates must be highly motivated, responsible and dependable and demonstrate strong organizational and leadership skills.
