The Eula Corey Metzger Scholarship was established to provide an educational opportunity annually to a Council Grove High School senior pursuing a college degree, in memory of Mrs. Metzger.
Eula Corey Metzger was a dedicated elementary school teacher. She was born, raised, married, and died in Council Grove. Eula taught in Council Grove from 1939 until her death in 1956. Eula’s five children established the Eula Corey Scholarship in 1978 to honor her memory.
Preference will be given to, but not limited to applicants that plan to pursue a degree from Emporia State University.
The qualified applicant(s) will be awarded a scholarship for financial assistance for the upcoming fall semester.
Qualifications: Interested candidates must meet the following criteria to qualify for this award:
- A graduating high school senior at Council Grove High School.
- Applicant must be entering a full-time college program or currently enrolled in a full-time college program no less than 12 credit hours.
