The Lloyd K Brown Scholarship was established to provide educational opportunities annually to a Herington High School senior pursuing a degree at a Kansas state-funded educational institution.
Mr. Brown was born on March 11, 1908, and was a lifetime resident of Herington Kansas. He was a retired engineer for the Rock Island Railroad and a member of the United Methodist Church, Kansas Lodge 307 AF&AM and the Chapter of Commandery, all of Herington, and the Isis Shrine Temple, Salina, the Eagles Lodge, Junction City, and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Lloyd passed at the age of 82 on March 21, 1990.
Qualifications: Interested candidates must meet the following criteria to qualify for this award:
- A graduating high school senior at Herrington High School.
- Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student at a Kansas state-funded educational institution, no less than 12 credit hours.
- Applicant must receive a recommendation from a teacher.
