Sarasota Bay Watch & Suncoast Water Keeper Event!

Sister Keys Clean-up, Saturday March 6th, 8am – 12pm

Where: Mar Vista Dockside Restaurant (760 Broadway St, Longboat Key, FL 34228).

COVID precautions are in place: volunteers will be asked to answer a COVID questionnaire, temperature check, and masks are required. If you don’t want to be a part of this event and will be doing your own clean-up at a separate time, the town of Longboat Key will leave a dumpster by the LBK town boat ramp.

Trash bags and gloves will be provided.

Registration and departure will be from the beach at Mar Vista.

Please carpool, if possible and please avoid parking in the restaurant parking lot.

What to bring: You should have signed up in advance, so we will have your waivers. Volunteers MUST wear appropriate foot-wear, no flip flops, no sandals. Closed-toed shoes only. Wear old clothes that can get dirty and wet. Eat breakfast, bring a snack & re-useable water bottle, wear sunscreen, bring sunglasses/eye protection. SBW will supply extra water to refill your water bottles, and community service hours. We plan to complete the clean-up by around 12:00pm.

LIABILITY RELEASE AND WAIVER OF RIGHTS

My signature below (or the signature of a parent or guardian, for persons under 18 years of age) indicates that I understand and agree that Sarasota Bay Watch, Inc. and its directors, principals, officers, employees, staff, affiliates, volunteers, vessels, and event sponsors (collectively referred to as “Releasees”) shall not be held liable under any circumstances for injury to person or property, arising out of or resulting in any way from my participation in the above-referenced volunteer activity/event. I understand that this volunteer activity, especially water-based activities, involve certain dangers of which I fully and voluntarily assume the risk. By signing this document I am affirming that I am a good swimmer and in good health. I am aware that water-based activities, including but not limited to boating, snorkeling, free-diving, kayaking, shore clean-ups may be hazardous activities involving both natural and man-made risks that may result in serious personal injury or death. I understand that by signing this document I am giving up my right to bring any claim or action against the named Releasees on behalf of myself individually or as the representative of any other person, estate, or entity, including minors. My signature also authorizes Sarasota Bay Watch to utilize, without compensation, any pictures taken of this activity that includes my image or likeness, for any publication, newsletter, report or other documentation. I hereby assert that I have read the foregoing Event Liability Release and Waiver of Rights, understand its contents, and sign of my own free will.

Assumption of Risk, Waiver, Release & Hold Harmless

I desire to participate or allow my child(ren) to participate in one or more voluntary activities sponsored by Sarasota Bay Watch (SBW). The coronavirus known as COVID-19 has been declared as a worldwide pandemic and is believed to be contagious and spread by person-to-person contact. Federal, state, and local agencies recommend social distancing and other measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

SBW will conduct activities with safety protocols appropriate under the circumstances at the time. For the safety of all people involved, participants in the Activity will be required to adhere to all safety protocols and are subject to immediate removal from the Activity if they do not comply.

In an effort to ensure the safety and wellness of our community, I will:
- Perform temperature check for fever (100.4 F or 38.0 C) before arrival for the activity. If my child(ren) or I have a fever, we will not participate in the Activity until we have been without a fever for at least 72 hours.
- Make a visual inspection for signs of illness which could include: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, flushed cheeks, rapid breathing or difficulty breathing (without recent physical activity), fatigue, or extreme fussiness. If myself or my child(ren) have exhibited any of these signs or symptoms, I will not permit myself or my child(ren) to participate in the Activity until we have been without signs or symptoms for at least 72 hours.
- Confirm that I or my children have not been in contact with someone who has either tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 14 days or is waiting for test results. If we have been in contact with such a person, I will not permit my child(ren) to participate in the Activity until 14 days have elapsed since the time of contact.
By signing this document below, I acknowledge and affirm all of the statements above. I also voluntarily assume all risks that I and/or my child(ren) may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 as a result of participation in the Activity, and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, sickness, and/or death. I understand that the risk of exposure or infection may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of myself, my child(ren), SBW staff, volunteers, or agents, other Activity participants, or others not listed, and I acknowledge that all such risks are known to me.

In consideration of me and my child(ren) being able to participate in the Activity, I, on behalf of myself, as well as anyone entitled to act on my behalf, hereby forever waive, release, and hold the Sarasota Bay Watch and its agents and partners harmless from any and all claims, suits, liability, actions, judgments, attorneys’ fees, costs, and any expenses of any kind resulting from injuries or damages, grounded in tort or otherwise, that I and/or my child(ren), or my or our representatives, sustain during or related to my child(ren)’s participation or involvement in the Activity.
