  • Creative Experiential Learning Funding by the Greene Center provides monetary support for undergraduates who obtain a summer opportunity in the creative fields to investigate career options, develop skills, and link studio learning to the world of work. Typical programs include: honing a craft under guidance of industry professionals (masterclasses, workshops), gaining experience creating or performing (studios, productions, residencies, competitions), and building a network of other undergraduate artists (collegiate or young artist program).

    These opportunities are training programs for visual arts, performing arts, or writing that focus on the production, creation, and improvement of arts-specific skills. Examples of these opportunities include:

    • Festivals (film/music/theatre)
    • Summer Intensives
    • Workshops or masterclasses
    • Residency or Studio programs
    • Academies or Institutes

  • VIII. Release of liability and Applicant's E-Signature

  • I, the above-named student of the University of Rochester (the “University”), have decided to engage in the Experience described above for the purpose of furthering my education.  The University, in order to facilitate and encourage its students to seek out internships and other similar opportunities for their educational value, has made funds available to students like me to help offset the associated costs of travel, lodging and other expenses.  In consideration of receiving such funds, I hereby agree to the following:

    1. I am not required by the University to participate in the Experience, and my choice to do so is purely voluntary. I have chosen to pursue the Experience for my own educational purposes, with full knowledge and assumption of all associated risks.
    2. I acknowledge that:
    1. The University has had no role in arranging the Experience, negotiating its terms and conditions, or arranging related travel and lodging. I have made all such arrangements, alone or with the help of third parties unaffiliated with the University.
    2. The University has not conducted any investigation into the Experience, with respect to its safety, compliance with applicable laws and regulations, particular educational value, or any other matter.
    3. The University will not manage the Experience, will have no contact with nor be responsible for the acts of any person involved with it;
    4. The University has made no inquiry into my health or fitness for the Experience;
    5. The University has not made any determination whether any travel that I engage in going to or from the Experience, or locally while there, will be safe;
    6. I am solely responsible for making my own travel, lodging, meal, entertainment and other arrangements related to the Experience;
    7. I am responsible for my own safety during, before and after the Experience;
    8. If for any reason, whether due to sickness (including but not limited to COVID-19), injury, death, political unrest, natural or man-made disaster, or for reasons similar to any of the foregoing, I require health care, evacuation or repatriation of remains, the University’s staff, contractors, insurers, and others who regularly assist University students and staff in such situations will not be available to assist me any manner, whether financially or otherwise; and
    9. I will be solely responsible for obtaining whatever health, travel or other insurance as I may decide.

    3. I understand that participating in the Experience, including travel, carries with it certain risks, including but not limited damage or loss to my property, and personal injury, illness and death, any of which may be caused by disease, intentional or negligent acts of others, acts of God, political unrest or terrorism, transportation accident and/or my own negligence, among other causes.

    4. In recognition and consideration of the foregoing, I hereby release and hold harmless the University, its employees and Trustees, from any and all liability, loss, claim, or expense (“liabilities”) that I may incur as the result of engaging in the Experience, including travel, and agree that I am solely responsible for any such liabilities.

    5. I am over 18 years of age, and have signed this document freely and voluntarily and not under any duress.
