The American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) is soliciting nominations for the 2021 Occupational and Environmental Medicine Media Excellence Awards (OEMMEs), a series of awards to recognize and honor efforts by journalists who promote understanding of occupational and environmental medicine and/or increase public awareness of workplace health, prevention, and/or wellbeing.
NOMINEE CRITERIA
- Entrants are to be journalists or freelance writers/editors/producers in either print, broadcast, or online journalism
- Entries should have been written for a consumer audience
MEDIA ENTRY TIME FRAME
- Published or broadcast on or between February 1, 2020, and February 1, 2021
AWARD CATEGORIES (1- 2 AWARDEES PER CATEGORY)
- Broadcast Journalism (TV, internet livestream)
- Written Journalism (Newspaper / Online Journalism (print or online)
- Multimedia News (digital storytelling, other)
Entries should nominate a specific article / story / report which promotes the understanding of occupational and environmental health and safety and/or is aimed to increase public awareness of workplace health, prevention, and/or wellbeing. Entries will be evaluated on reporting of new trends, regulations, procedures, technologies, or news as they relate to occupational and/or environmental medicine.
The 2021 awards will be presented at the American Occupational Health Conference (AOHC Virtual 2021), May 2-5, 2021. 2021 OEMME Award recipients will receive video recognition at AOHC Virtual 2021, an award plaque, and social media and press release coverage. In future years, when in-person conferences resume, OEMME recipients will be honored at the ACOEM President's Reception in the conference city.
Submissions for the 2021 OEMMEs must be received by 11:59 PM CST on March 12, 2021. Award recipients will be notified by April 17, 2021.
