Use the following formatting:

Black, 12 pt, Times New Roman font.

Use italics as needed within text for emphasis; do not use bold and do not underline text.

If you have a list in your manuscript, use round “bullets" to set it off. If the list is a sequence, then number your list.

Double-space your lines, and do not include extra lines between paragraphs.

Use a single space after periods and all other punctuation marks. if your manuscript has two spaces after a period, use your word processor’s Find and Replace tool. Type two spaces into “Find” and one space into “Replace” then hit “Replace All”.

Indent all paragraphs by .5 inches, and don’t hit tab or space to indent.

US standard page size of 8.5×11 inches and set your margins to 1 inch on all sides.

Set alignment to left-justified.

Use page breaks at the end of a chapter.

Number your pages and use a header on each page including your name, and the title of your novel in all caps.

When you start a new chapter, type your chapter name in a new line and then go to the Styles menu and choose Heading 1. If you have a sub-chapter heading, make that Heading 2. If you have sub-sub heads make them Heading 3, and so on.

Title page must include: Title, author name, author contact information, document word count.

Do not insert any artwork into your text manuscript. If you have art that you want to appear in your text, number the artwork, and indicate in the running text “Insert Figure 3 here” roughly where you would like the art to appear. Submit the art separately.
