Master Class Eco-Governance
“Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws”.
“It’s not corruption that needs to be tackled. It is the personal integrity of people, which is awareness about their behavior and actions on human beings, animals, plants, and the environment. This is the first rule of sustainability and the foundation of eco-governance". --- Hubert Rampersad
Sustainability Starts With Yourself
Outdated corporate approaches and theories are related to poor ethical leadership, lack of personal integrity, mismanagement, fraud, corruption, and violation of good governance rules, which are the main contributors towards bankruptcy and financial failures in many organizations. Most of these organizations have comprehensive corporate governance codes in place, which apparently are not working at all. They made things worse and created a stable basis for more corruption. There is no room for mismanagement, fraud, and corruption in the new normal.
It is time to become aware that corporate governance cannot be controlled effectively with formal and exhaustive rules, regulations, guidelines, and procedures only. It’s about decency and personal integrity and this must be cultivated from within. Personal integrity has no need of rules. It must be a way of life. “Personal integrity is telling myself the truth. Honesty is telling the truth to other people”.
The future of corporate governance entails eco-governance, which is an authentic and holistic approach that makes the link to personal integrity, personal governance, and corporate governance, as indicated in this article "Eco-Governance"
