Dear Scholarship Applicant,
The Hemophilia Foundation of Maryland (HFM) is honored to introduce the Doug Hiteshew Memorial Scholarship Program for the 2024-2025 school year, dedicated to commemorating the legacy of Mr. Hiteshew. Mr. Hiteshew, a remarkable individual who battled severe hemophilia, strongly advocated for the importance of education among youth with bleeding disorders.
This year, the Hemophilia Foundation of Maryland (HFM) will allocate a total of $12,000 in scholarship funding to eligible applicants. The amount awarded will be determined by factors such as volunteerism at HFM events, participation in HFM programming, academic achievements, and the overall quality of the application submission.
Application Requirements:
1. The applicant must have hemophilia, vWD, be a sibling or child of, or parent of a child with Hemophilia or vWD.
2. Maryland residency or attendance at a Maryland school for at least one year prior to applying is mandatory.
3. Applicants may pursue any field of study but must be entering or currently attending a community college, junior college, four-year college, university, vocational school, or pursuing a trade certificate (e.g., phlebotomy program, CNA certification) in the fall of 2024.
4. Please provide your most recent academic transcript. A transcript is not required for applicants seeking program certification.
5. Include the name of the educational institution you will attend, Student ID#, phone number, and mailing address for the Office of Registration.
