General Job Information:
The Mortgage Loan Originator reports to and collaborates with the Branch Manager to perform a wide range of duties related to the origination of residential first mortgage loans for inside leads and/or outside referrals. Must possess superior customer service skills, leadership skills, be extremely detail oriented, and self-motivated.
Principal Responsibilities

Utilizes developmental opportunities to become proficient in the MortgageRight Process.

Generates sales of residential mortgage loans and pipeline from advertising or other source leads and engages in sales calls at realtor offices and other external locations and assumes overall responsibility for the residential mortgage loan from application to closing.

Monitors overall customer interaction and interfaces with all parties involved on each individual loan from application to closing, including but not limited to counseling and pre-qualifying potential home buyers.

Builds and develops referral contacts (customer referrals, realtors, builders, professional and personal contacts).

Maintains knowledge of available loan products, processing procedures, and underwriting and general departmental guidelines. Originates permanent single family (1-4), FHA, VA and conventional mortgage loan products.

Exercises discretion and sound judgement in comparing and evaluating possible lending products that suit the customer’s financial situation.

Understands and maintains a thorough knowledge of various mortgage loan programs (FNMA/FHLMC/FHA/VA, etc.) and company products.

May supervise and direct the activities of other loan officer(s), loan officer assistant(s), or loan processor(s).

Follows defined protocol for escalation exceptions.

Takes applicant applications by completing 1003 application data in LOS (Encompass).

Reviews daily rates, applicant credit reports and automated underwriter.

Collects appropriate documentation from each applicant and delivers loan package in the time frames set by management.

Manages pipeline for all originated loans through closing.

Maintains high levels of customer service while managing each applicant's and support staff's expectations.

Attends and participates in all lending meetings as required by management.

Maintains awareness, understanding and compliance with MortgageRight’s internal policies and procedures, laws and regulations appropriate for this position.

Provides assistance in response to regulatory and internal/external audit requests.

Be responsible for assigned duties and adhere to the policies of MortgageRight.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office (Excel, Word) or other transferable software packages.

As defined by the S.A.F.E. Act, must register as a Mortgage Loan Originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) and maintain the unique identifying registration number.
Candidate should also possess:

Knowledge of residential mortgage processing, underwriting and closing procedures.

Knowledge of federal lending regulations governing real estate lending.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Two or more years relevant loan experience

Knowledge of conventional and/or government lending guidelines preferred.

Experience using Encompass LOS
