*Jennifer Frost Taylor was a Vancouver resident and long time proponent of the Arts. Jennie was one of the original supporters of the Skyview Scholarship program. In recognition of her commitment to the program, we have named this award in her honor.
The Storm Nation Foundation will award a one-time, $5,000 scholarship to a member of the 2024 senior class who has participated and excelled in classes or clubs or other activities related to “the arts” while attending Skyview High School. Qualifying activities include choir, orchestra, band and dance programs (comprised of the Marching Band, Winter Guard, Winter Percussion, Jazz Band and three Concert Bands – Concert, Symphonic, and Wind Ensemble), drama club, the Visual Arts Department, Photography, and Video Skills.
The application process is as follows:
Interested seniors should write a short, narrative essay expressing how their arts experience at Skyview shaped them into becoming the accomplished senior who will be graduating from SHS in the current year.
The winning student essay will demonstrate some or all the following characteristics.
- A high level of academic achievement with a focus on college (applicants are not required to be planning a college major in any of the arts).
- Involvement in other school activities beyond the arts.
- Significant personal achievement.
- Kindness to fellow Skyview students, teachers and staff
- Respect from Skyview teachers and staff.
In addition to the essay, applicants will also need to submit
- Copy of transcripts
- Letter of recommendation/support from a Skyview teacher or staff member
- Letter of support from a classmate or person outside of school (not a parent or relative)
