This program provides for the rigorous study of the techniques needed by actors across a range of skills. The Harvard Kennedy School of Government requires its students to study a diverse program of skills - researching, thinking, communicating, persuading - needed to succeed in demanding roles and careers. The Class of 1985 is filled with Senators, Representatives, Generals, Mayors, Department Heads, CEO's, Managing Directors, Non-Profit Leaders, Entrepreneurs, Philanthropists, and many others who used their experience and training to help improve the world.

  • The George Grant Memorial Scholarship

The George Grant Memorial Scholarship Fund, established by alumni from Lawrence University, provides one full scholarship for a teenager to attend The Theatre Lab’s Summer Acting Institute for Teens, where George Grant was a devoted teaching artist. The scholarship is awarded annually to a teen that demonstrates financial need, community service, and a passion for creativity.

To be considered for this full-tuition scholarship, candidates must write an essay of up to 250 words explaining why they need the scholarship and how they feel they could benefit from the training.

  • Work Study

Each summer The Theatre Lab offers interested students the opportunity to receive a reduction in tuition for the teen institutes by pledging a number of work hours to our organization. The job tasks are primarily clerical, such as helping with organizational mailings, or may involve programmatic responsibilities, such as assisting teachers in the Summer Acting Camp for Kids AfterCare program and working on the Tech Team. Students may apply for 5 to 20 hours of Work Study, with each hour of work valued at $10. (For example: a student awarded 10 hours of Work Study will have a $100 credit applied to his or her tuition.) Students who participate in the Work Study program will develop a work schedule with the program directors and will turn in time sheets detailing the work they have done. the success of the work program is entirely dependent on the student's commitment to honoring the work pledge he/she has made. We ask, therefore, that students who apply for the Work Study program realize the seriousness of the responsibility they are taking on and be fully prepared to fulfill this commitment. (Parents/Guardians: Please read the Work Study Agreement below carefully before submitting.)

*Please note work-study will be extremly limited this summer due to Covid saftey protocals.

Indicate how many hours of work study you would like to be granted.
