• Youth Debate Tournament Registration Form

    Complete this form to participate in a National virtual debate tournament @ ICNA 2021 National Symposium
  • TEAM & PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

    • The tournament will have two categories, one for middle school and another for high school students.
    • Each team consists of 3 members, one of which must be designated as a team captain.  Each member has a role to play and at least 1 member of the team must have previous debating experience.

    • A maximum of 20 teams will be qualified for the tournement.

    • Team that has not participated in MYDT in the past would be required to meet with the selection commeette before the event for a pre-qualification screening (a pre-qualification zoom meeting will be scheduled upon registration).

    MYDT (Muslim Youth Debate Tournament), a youth enrichment platform of Mafiq Foundation brings to you a virtual national parliamentary style debate tournament @ 2021 ICNA National Symposium.  Muslim Youth interested in competing in this debate tournament are invited to complete this registration form by 15 Marrch 2021.  

    The competing teams  (each team consists of three-members) will participate in a a two-round parliamentary style impromptu debate on April 3rd and the qualifying teams will compete in semifinals and Finals on April 4th. Champions and runners-up will receive a cash award.

    MYDT is committed to providing a platform for Muslim youth to foster analytical reasoning, critical thinking, and persuasive argumentation.  We hope to offer that opportunity to the participating youth of the ICNA Symposium, in shaa Allah.  For details about parliamentray style debate rules, rubrics, and form and format, please visit our website @ http://debate.mafiq.org/?page_id=23.

  • Debate VIRTUAL WORKSHOP

    We plan to schedule virtual workshop(s) for the registerred teams to introduce the structure and rules of our parliamentary style debate competition.

  • Authorizations and Signatures by the a Parent or a Guardian or a Coach (Please ensure that your contact information above are correct and working).

    By signing this form, I certify that the information submitted is accurate and truthful, and that I agree to train the team with the best of my abilities and take advantage of the workshops to be scheduled by Mafiq Foundation (virtual workshop will be scheduled time permitting). I will ensure that the team takes part in the event on April 3rd, 2021 and abide by the terms and conditions set by the Mafiq Foundations, inc. I understand that the Debate performed for the competition becomes a Mafiq Foundation property. Mafiq Foundation thereby retains full and exclusive right to publish, market, and use the event related information including video and audio records for promotional purposes.

    I agree on behalf of the team to NOT hold The Mafiq Foundation, its affiliates, board members, employees, volunteers, directors, agents, or members liable for negative experiences, issues, problems, mishaps, accidents, or injuries.
