SBA Band Internship Memorial Scholarship

The Saskatchewan Band Association is pleased to award annual scholarships of $700.00 to Saskatchewan Music Education program students preparing for or in their internship year and who are focusing their internship on Band in memory of Greg McLean

The Saskatchewan Band Association is pleased to honour the memory of long-time Saskatchewan Band Director and SBA volunteer Greg McLean by awarding two scholarships each year to Saskatchewan Music Education students as they finalize their education and continue their dedication to band development in the province. In addition to his School Band programs, Greg was a founding member of the Saskatchewan Band Association. He served on the SBA Board of Directors, was a clinician and conductor at SBA Band Camps for over 25 years and provided ongoing mentorship to new band directors.

The SBA is pleased to award these scholarships annually in recognition of Greg's support for quality band education and internship experiences and his mentorship of new band directors.

Criteria:
- Students must be residants of Saskatchewan and attending a Saskatchewan secondary institution.

- Students must be preparing for or engaged in their 4 -month internship (which includes a band focus) within 12 months of the application deadline.

- Has demonstrated dedication to self-improvement on their instrument and leadership within their band program

- Has been active outside their school band program, e.g: attendance at Band Camps; participation in honour bands, local Community Bands/events, or music festivals etc.

- Students display the qualities of Mr. McLean including hard work, organization, love of music, passion for band programs and volunteerism.
