The McKay Commons Vision
Our vision is to create a community gathering space in the McKay neighborhood for the McKay neighborhood. We want to see all people in the McKay Community thrive, especially parents because healthy parents means healthy families. McKay Commons will be a large, mixed-use building designed for community, culture and commerce. Modeled after Broadway Commons and adapted to fit the specific needs of the McKay Community, we envision 4 main components of McKay Commons: 1) A coffee shop, 2) A lunch restaurant / caterer, 3) Affordable rental space (for small and large gatherings), 4) Leasable office/retail space (for businesses or nonprofits)

Coffee Shop
We envision an affordable, specialty coffee shop that caters to the many cultures of the McKay Community. Along with a standard coffee menu, we plan to include flavors and treats from different cultures represented in the McKay Community (such as pan dulce and cardamom). We want to provide a place for McKay neighbors, students and businesses to meet, drink great coffee, have access to local treats, and feel comfortable staying for awhile. We also want to provide job opportunities for McKay neighbors who want to develop both their language and job skills.
