The Japanese American Veterans Inouye Memorial Scholarship is awarded in memory of Senator Daniel K. Inouye. This scholarship award of $3000 will be awarded to a student who has completed at least one year of college and is pursuing a career in public service or military service.

Eligibility: Applicants must meet the following criteria. Please place an "x" beside the criteria you meet:
I have completed at least one year in an undergraduate program. The course of study is intended to lead to a career in the military or public service. OR
I am enrolled in a graduate program of study. The course of study is intended to lead to a career in the military or public service. OR
I am currently enrolled in a university or college ROTC program or the U.S. Marine Corps Platoon Leaders Course. [please provide certification of your enrollment.]
Eligibility: Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria. Please place an "x" beside the criteria you meet:
I am a direct, lineal descendant* of a Nisei military service member of World War II who served in the 100th Infantry Battalion, the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, the Military Intelligence Service, the 1399th Engineer Construction Battalion, or other U.S. military unit to include the Women's Army Corps or Army Nurses Corps. OR
I am a collateral descendant * of a Nisei military service member of World War II in the units described previously. A collateral descendant is an applicant whose direct ancestor was a brother, sister, uncle, aunt, nephew, or niece of a World War II Nisei military service member. OR
I am a past or current member of the 100th/442nd Infantry, U.S. Army Reserves, who is/was in good standing and has served at least one year as of the date of application submission. For past or current members of the 100th/442nd Infantry, please attach a copy of your DD Form 214, Enlisted Record Brief, or Officers Record Brief showing assignment to the 100th/442nd Infantry Battalion for at least one year. OR
I am a disabled veteran. [please provide certification of your disabled veteran status from either the Veterans Administration or the military service in which you served.] OR
I am a current member of JAVA ( https://java-us.org/) whose membership began prior to April 1, 2019. OR

I am aware that my completed application, with supporting documentation, must be electronically submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. on April 30, 2021, in order for it to be considered for the 2021 JAVA Senator Daniel K. Inouye Memorial Scholarship. Applications not received by that date, or that are incomplete or fail to meet the submission requirements, will NOT be considered.
