Assumption of Risk and Release of Liability Agreement I, the undersigned, assume all responsibility for and all risk of damage or injury that may occur as a result of my own actions, inactions, or negligence, or that of others as a client of the Essence of Embodiment Festival or of SMUSH Gallery. In consideration of and as part of payment for the right to participate as a client of Essence of Embodiment Festival or of SMUSH Gallery, I will hold harmless and release and discharge all rights and claims for damages that I may have or that may hereafter accrue to me against Essence of Embodiment Festival or of SMUSH Gallery, its owner, employees and agents for any and all injuries resulting from or arising out of, or incident to, my use of a Essence of Embodiment Festival or SMUSH Gallery studio or location of instruction or facilities and equipment in such place, or as a result of, or incident to, engaging in Essence of Embodiment Festival or SMUSH Gallery exercises or otherwise following Essence of Embodiment Festival or SMUSH Gallery instructions anywhere. The terms hereof shall serve as a release, indemnification, and assumption of risk for my heirs, executors, and administrators, and for all my members of my family.
I have read, understand, and signed the foregoing assumptions of risk and release of liability agreement.

What should I pay?All passes for the 2021 Essence of Embodiment Festival are offered on a pay-what-you-can sliding scale and all proceeds will go to SMUSH Gallery and our festival’s artists, teachers, and writers. Each Pass provides access to all Virtual Films, Panel Discussions, and ***Movement Workshops in the festival. Use the guidelines below as a tool to adjust payment based on access to resources. You'll be taken to a registration form through ****Jotform where you'll pick your classes, rsvp for the talkbacks, and make your payment with PayPal (tax is not included). *Basic Needs include food, housing, clothing and transportation. **Expendable Income might mean you are able to buy coffee or tea at a cafe, go to the cinema or a concert, buy new clothes, books and similar items each month, etc. ***Registration is required as we are capping all workshops at 20 participants so that each of you can receive individualized feedback and proper guidance. All films will be available to watch online via a secure portal. Films cannot be downloaded. Films can be viewed for the duration of the Festival only – March 18th – 21st 2021. ****Upon purchase, you will receive an order confirmation email. Our orientation emails are sent within 12 hours of making a purchase as they are not automated. If you have not received any emails from us---and you purchased a festival pass, check both your spam and promotions folders! BIPOC Scholarship - $0-$25 I frequently stress about meeting basic* needs and don’t always achieve them. I have debt, and it sometimes prohibits me from meeting my basic needs. I have unstable housing. I sometimes can’t afford public or private transport. I am unemployed or underemployed. I have no access to savings. I have no or very limited expendable** income. I do not have the ability to take time off without financial burden. Contributor - $40 I may stress about meeting my basic* needs, but still regularly achieve them. I may have some debt, but it does not prohibit attainment of basic needs. I have access to a car and can afford gas, or I can afford public transport and often private transport. I am employed or self-employed. I have some financial savings. I have some expendable** income. I have access to healthcare. I can take a vacation annually, or every few years without financial burden. Supporter - $80 I am able to meet my basic* needs. I may have some debt, but it does not prohibit attainment of basic needs. I own my home, or I rent a property. I own/lease a car, or I can afford public and private transport. I am employed or self employed. I have access to healthcare. I have access to some financial savings. I have some expendable** income. I can take a vacation without financial burden. Pay it Forward - $150 - $225 I am comfortable and able to meet all of my basic* needs. I may have some debt, but it does not prohibit attainment of basic needs. I own my home, or I rent a higher-end property. I own/ lease a car, or I can always afford public and private transport. I am employed, or do not need to work to meet my needs. I have regular access to healthcare. I have access to financial savings. I have an expendable** income. I afford vacations or to take time off. Adapted from The Green Bottle Sliding Scale by Califia Collective. We believe that wellness, dance, and film should be available and accessible to all. We are introducing a sliding-scale payment system for our festival passes to our Essence of Embodiment audiences. This range of festival pass prices is the best way to allow everyone to be able to purchase a pass within their financial reach whilst also ensuring that we are able to continue running events. All are welcome. You can choose what you pay based on your circumstances. Free passes are only for BIPOC people that would otherwise be unable to attend, we are asking that our white allies not select this pass. If you are unable to afford this event please reach out to us at: bonjour@embodiment.dance and we will make special arrangements for you to be able to engage with the festival within your means.
