  • Individual/Family Application

  • Program Overview

As a part of Mundi Project's mission to actively break down socioeconomic and generational barriers by providing quality music experiences for all, the organization provides donated, used pianos to families and individuals who would not otherwise have access to quality, acoustic instruments. The process begins by completing the following application. Once received, Mundi Project staff will review applications on a rolling basis to determine preliminary eligibility.

Once an applicant passes the initial screening, Mundi Project staff will schedule a virtual interview with the applicant and any applicable learners to hear more about how a piano will benefit their lives. Accepted applicants are asked to pay a program fee to cover the costs associated with placing the piano (moving, tuning, etc.). Flexible payment options are available. Applicants may also apply to have the fee waived through our Piano Bank Scholars Program; scholarships are awarded based on need and at the discretion of Mundi Project staff. More specific information is given in the application below.

If an instrument is placed with an applicant, the applicant will be asked to complete a "Gratitude Project." This will consist of sharing their story via photos, videos, and/or a short thank-you note demonstrating how the piano has impacted their lives. Following receipt of the Gratitude Project, Mundi Project will schedule and provide the first tuning of the piano (if applicable).

We recommend that applicants and learners review the written questions here before filling out and submitting the online application.

If you have any questions at all during this process, please reach out to Jeremy Adriano at: jadriano@mundiproject.org

    • Written Questions

The following questions are intended to help you tell your story and allow Mundi Project staff to get to know you initially. We recommend that applicants and learners review the questions here before filling them out below. We will follow up with specific questions to the applicant/learner during the in-person interview.

    • Financial Information | Program Fee
    • Financial Information Self-Disclosure

This section asks the applicant to disclose their current financial status. While we will not ask you to upload any documentation with this application, we reserve the right to ask for additional documentation when evaluating the application.

    • Piano Bank Program Fee

In order to cover program expenses, Piano Bank has a program fee of $25 a month for the duration of twelve months ($300 total). This fee represents the program costs (moving, tuning, etc.), not the piano's value. Approved applicants will be enrolled in an automatic payment program prior to piano placement. This fee helps Piano Bank be sustainable and accessible to the community by covering a portion of the program costs. Together we can make affordable piano ownership a reality.

      Piano Bank Scholars Program

Individuals who so desire may apply for a program fee waiver through our Piano Bank Scholars Program. Scholarships are awarded based on applicants’ financial need and scholarship availability.

    • If you are invited to interview, a Mundi Project staff member will discuss payment and your eligibility for the Piano Bank Scholars Program (if applicable) during your Piano Bank interview.

    • Reference
    • Reference

This last section allows the applicant to list an individual that will be able to speak towards the learners' musical engagement and learning interests as well as their family's ability to support the learner. If possible, we ask that you list a music teacher that knows them well. A staff member may contact this individual via phone or email. Please be sure to ask if they are able and willing to be a reference!

  • Public Space Organization

  • Program Overview

Mundi Project places donated pianos with public organizations in order to provide students, performers, and the general public greater access to quality instruments. Pianos placed with public organizations provide education and performance opportunities in congruence with Mundi Project’s overall mission–to actively break down socioeconomic and generational barriers by providing quality music experiences for all.

The process begins by completing the following application. Mundi Project staff reviews application material on a rolling basis to determine eligibility. The unique needs of each applicant organization are considered and determinations are made as instruments become available for placement. Every attempt is made to ensure that each piano is placed where it can be used most effectively.

Once an applicant passes the initial screening, Mundi Project will schedule a virtual meeting with the organization representative(s) to help determine the best instrument location within the facility, share best practices in piano maintenance, and discuss post-placement tasks related to the piano.

If the applicant is accepted, they will be obliged to pay a $300 program fee. This fee represents the program costs (moving, tuning, etc.), not the piano's value. This fee helps Piano Bank be sustainable and accessible to the community by covering a portion of the program costs. Together, we can make affordable piano ownership a reality.
