We invite undergraduate students from underrepresented communities to apply for an introduction to career possibilities in financial services.
We are a group of equity fund managers and financial advisors passionate about sharing what we know about our professions with undergraduates interested in exploring a career in the financial services industry.
Some firms that have participated in the program include Artisan Partners, Bumbershoot Holdings, LP, Channing Capital Management, C.L. King & Associates, Common Interests, Cross Ocean Partners, Douglass Winthrop, EJF Capital, Essex Investment Management, Gagnon Securities, GenTrust, Granahan Investment Management, Jennison Associates, Journeys Metabolic, Igneo Infrastructure Partners, Kudu Investment Management, LMK Capital, Needham Funds, Palisade Capital Management, Polaris Capital Management, Redwood Investment Management, Terra Alpha Investments, Trillium Asset Management, Trivalent Investments, Tweedy, Browne Company, Zevin Asset Management, and a few other financial firms.
For Summer 2025, we have positions for approximately 25 students at about 20 firms. Some of the positions will be virtual, and some will be in-person.
You will work with a fund manager as an equity research analyst, researching a portfolio company investment (including virtual meetings with the portfolio company's management), or as a non-registered assistant in a wealth management/ financial advisor practice. You will work 30-40 hours per week and earn a $750 weekly stipend.
You will also participate in the WSDA virtual curriculum that includes 1) an equity research "Boot Camp" during the first week, 2) a "Lunch & Learn" speaker series, 3) weekly peer group meetups and 4) eMoney University training and certification course. The WSDA virtual curriculum will run from May 27 - June 27, 2025.
The WSDA steering team will receive resumes and perform initial interviews. Final interviews and internship offers will come directly from the investment management or financial planning firm.
Previous internship experience is not necessary. We seek students who are passionate about learning and investing. Students may demonstrate enthusiasm through coursework in any field. Investing passion may be shown through coursework or independent study about investing in equities, accounting, statistics, and financial planning. Writing skills and familiarity with income statements, balance sheets, cash flow, and the stock market are helpful to get the most out of this opportunity. Preference will be given to students with a 3.0 GPA or higher (please note that 3.0 is not a minimum requirement).
For students that we cannot offer internships, we are working with OMNI Wall St Advantage (https://www.wallstadvantage.com/) to provide mentorship, curriculum, and other internship opportunities.
