    • Use of Cornwell Facilities by Outside Groups and all terms of rental are coordinated by the Director.  Any event that would show disrespect of the Cornwell, be in conflict with our Church Covenant and Strategic Plan or be considered as inappropriate use will not be allowed. In those instances, final approval rests with the Director of the Cornwell Center and the Campus Administrator.
    • Bookings will not be made beyond six months without special authorization.
    • Generally, no outside group may use the facilities on dates or at times when an “all Church” event is scheduled.

  • Rules and Regulations

  • • We share our resources with the community through the rental and use of space by outside individuals/organizations. Rental of the Cornwell facility for use in any campaign advertisements of candidates running for political office or advertisements for products and services is not permitted.
    • The Cornwell Center makes every effort to be a “green campus.” We ask that our environmental values of conserving energy and reducing unnecessary waste be respected in the use of our facilities. We strongly encourage the use of our recycling receptacles and discourage the use of plastic water bottles and styrofoam.
    • Use of alcoholic beverages and illegal drugs are prohibited. No firearms may be brought onto our Campus. No illicit activities are allowed on our property.
    • Each group using the Cornwell facilities shall have a contact person. This contact person is a specific individual who is an officer or representative of an applying group who shall be responsible for arrangements, for the conduct of the group, for the payment of fees and for any damages to our property.

  • Provisions

  • • Reservations will not be honored without full payment.
    • Additional fees may apply for set up, clean up, or special needs.
    • A 25% discount is available to MPBC members and non-profit organizations for approved events.
    • This is an agreement to provide space for your event and in no way implies that The Cornwell Center sponsors or endorses your planned program. You may include our name and address for location purposes only. We are not responsible for promoting or taking reservations for your event. We do not promote community events in our newsletter or worship bulletin.
    • Additional billing will incur if any of the following are documented: 
      •   Presence of latex balloons on campus
      •   Damage to equipment
      •   Damage to walls, floors, doors, and ceilings
      •   Damage to furniture
      •   Propping exterior doors open (this compromises our security)
      •   Failure for any person in your group to adhere to our current COVID-19 protocol at all times.
    • In addition, the rental group will be invoiced for the cost to repair or replace damaged equipment.

  • Fees for Use of Facility

  • Facilities rental fee schedules are available from the Director. A 50% deposit is required upon approval and the balance is due one week prior to start of the event.

  • Food and Beverage

  • Alcoholic beverages are prohibited. Arrangements for all food served anywhere in the Church must be approved by the Director.

  • Promotional Materials and Decorations

  • • If you have promotional posters for the approved event, they must be given to the Director for posting. Two posters may be posted on designated boards, one each in our Education Building and The Cornwell Center. No signs may be taped to walls or doors. Blue painter's tape may be used for directional signs.
    • Promotional materials for any event held on our campus with the name of the Cornwell Center must be preapproved by the Director. That would include any advertisements that would appear in local newspapers or any other publications.
    • Decorations, both inside and outside the building, shall be limited to those placed on room tables, attached in the usual manner to bulletin boards, or shall be free-standing. No decoration shall be attached in any manner by tape, nail, staple or otherwise, to the walls, ceilings, doors and other permanent fixtures. Candles must be battery operated – no fire. No latex balloons are permitted anywhere on campus; mylar is acceptable.

  • Responsibilities of the Individuals and Groups Using Facilities

  • Each group shall:
    a. use only such space and equipment as listed and approved in writing prior to your event.
    b. prior to use, pay such fees and other charges as are set by the Director. Exceptions are for food service charges and custodial charges which may be billed separately after the event.
    c. reimburse the Cornwell Center for repair or replacement costs and expenses for any and all damage whatsoever to its facilities, equipment, or other property arising out of the outside group’s use thereof. 

  • Liability

  • The user understands that the responsibility to obtain liability insurance is upon the user. Each group shall indemnify and hold harmless the Cornwell Center and its members and employees of and from any and all claims, demands, actions, losses, and expenses of any kind whatsoever, and from all persons whomsoever, arising out of use of the Cornwell’s facilities, equipment, or other property by the group’s members, invitees or participants.

    The Cornwell shall not be required or expected to provide security of any kind and makes no implicit or explicit warranty of the premises, equipment, machinery, fixtures or furniture. Signing this form and the Request for Use of Facilities Form certifies and acknowledges that the group using the facilities releases The Cornwell Center from any liability as stated herein.

    If any of the User’s activities at The Cornwell Center will place children or youth under the age of 18 in the care of persons other than their own parents/guardians, the user must comply with the Child Protection Policy of The Cornwell Center and certify compliance by signature on our policy. By signature below, the User agrees to this provision, and to inform The Cornwell Center as to the presence of children on its campus for this rental activity.

    ADDITIONAL WAIVER, RELEASE, INDEMNIFICATION OF
    ALL CLAIMS AND COVENANT NOT TO SUE

    NOTICE: THIS IS A LEGALLY BINDING AGREEMENT. Read this document carefully and in entirety. By signing this agreement, you give up your right to bring a court action to recover compensation or obtain any other remedy for any personal injury or property damage however caused arising out of your rental at The Cornwell Center now or at any time in the future.

    Acknowledgment of Risk

    I have full knowledge and understanding of the inherent risks associated with this rental, including but in no way limited to: (1) slips, trips, and falls (2) illness, including exposure to and infection with viruses or bacteria. I further acknowledge that the preceding list is not inclusive of all possible risks associated with this rental and that said list in no way limits the operation of this Agreement.

     

    Coronavirus / COVID-19 Warning and Disclaimer

    Coronavirus, COVID-19 is an extremely contagious virus that spreads easily through person-to-person contact. COVID-19 can lead to severe illness, personal injury, permanent disability, and death. The Cornwell Center in no way warrants that COVID-19 infection will not occur through accessing our facilities or being present on our campus.

     

    Waiver, Release, Indemnification and Covenant Not to Sue

    I, the undersigned renter, agree to release and on behalf of myself, my heirs,
    representatives, executors, administrators, and assigns, HEREBY DO RELEASE The Cornwell Center its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, agents, representatives and insurers (“Releasees”) from any causes of action, claims, or demands of any nature whatsoever including, but in no way limited to, claims of negligence, which I, my heirs, representatives, executors, administrators and assigns may have, now or in the future, against The Cornwell Center on account of personal injury, property damage, death or accident of any kind, arising out of or in any way related to the use of The Cornwell Center facilities/equipment however the injury or damage occurs, including, but not limited to the negligence of Releasees.

    I, the undersigned renter, agree to INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS Releasees from any and all causes of action, claims, demands, losses, or costs of any nature whatsoever arising out of or in any way related to my use of space at The Cornwell Center

  • Child Protection Policy

  • God embraces children with love and gives their nurture and care into our hands. We believe that MPBC is called to provide a safe, loving and secure environment for the children and youth who come here to participate in our community of faith. These young people are entitled to the highest safeguards we can provide, and we understand that safeguarding our young members requires our utmost vigilance.

     

                As a staff person of Myers Park Baptist Church/The Cornwell Center/Through the Week School or a third-party rental utilizing forementioned facilities, I seek to create a safe and nurturing environment and to establish healthy relationships with the children and/or youth I serve. To ensure that every minor is safe from abuse or neglect, I will:

     

    ·         Observe the two-adult rule.

    ·         Observe the open-door policy.

    ·         Display affection appropriately and respect others’ boundaries.

    ·         Release the child or youth to authorize person(s) only.

    ·         Refrain from any use of alcohol, drugs, tobacco, profanity, or inappropriate language or jokes while working with children or youth.

    ·         Report any signs of injury or possible abuse to my supervisor and a minister of MPBC.

     

    I have:

    ·         Agreed to a background check.

    ·         Read the Child Protection Policy in its entirety and agree to abide by it.

    Most importantly, I will treat every child or youth with dignity and respect, reflecting always the love of God for all of God’s children.
