The American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) will be launching a Mentoring Program in April 2021.
The ACOEM Mentoring Program aims to facilitate mentoring of young professionals in the medical field, with focus on Occupational Medicine. Mentors will be ACOEM physician members with over five years of experience and is open to all student and resident members.
Mentoring enables both mentors and mentees to grow and learn.
A mentor provides guidance, support, encouragement and inspiration to a mentee through sharing life experiences and discussing options in career and in life.
Mentees are given a unique opportunity to build a trusting relationship with a leading Occupational Medicine professional from whom they can both learn and aspire. Mentoring helps mentees to build confidence and provides them with a sounding board to discuss issues in both work and life.
Flexible Time Commitments
We recognize how important mentoring time is to the success and growth of the partnership, but respect how busy both mentors and mentees are with work and personal schedules. Our mentoring program offers different time comments, from one hour a month to five hours a month, to match the needs of participants.
Feedback
Feedback from both the mentors and mentees is essential to the partnership and success of the program. We encourage mentors and mentees to openly communicate with each other, as well as provide feedback to Program Administration on a regular basis.

Participants must be ACOEM members to join the program. Please complete the form below to sign up for ACOEM membership and receive information on the Mentoring Program when it launches in April 2021.
Validation of Medical Student status is required. Validation includes a copy of a student transcript, letter from registrar or counselor, or a photo of a student ID card with a valid date. The Medical Student Membership term will correlate to the anticipated graduation date listed in the validation documentation, but no less than 12 months.
