The Office of Student Veterans is sponsoring a lunch and learn hosted by the Divinity Veteran Partnership.
Join the Duke Divinity Veterans Partnership in a discussion on veteran outreach with two guests from Military Outreach USA. The first guest is Chairman & CEO, James H. Mukoyama, Jr., Major General, U.S. Army-Retired, 64-95; Former Securities Industry Executive, Promise Keeper, Pinnacle Forum Partner, Chair of Advisory Council for Minority Veterans, and Department of Veteran Affairs and patient volunteer. The second guest is Military Outreach USA's Executive Director, Chappy Ferrer, former 82nd ABN, MBA, PMP (01') and FSC; Founder of Stand-by-me Hereos, and Chaplain and Lisenced minister (AG).
As a faith-based, nonprofit organization Military Outreach USA and its partners have helped more than 38,000 Veterans throughout the nation by providing move-in-essentials, beds, clothing, and opportunities that empower our Military Community to live independent lives. You will learn about Military Outreach's history, as well as their mission and vision to empower veterans through two of their programs: Veterans Exiting Homelessness Program and the Stand-by-me heroes program. We will discuss how they partner and build relationships with houses of worship, businesses and corporations, and veteran service organizations to fulfill their mission. We will also be talking about their Foxhole Soul Counselors (FSC) training that responds to veterans living with PTSD and Moral Injury.
