Actuarial careers are notorious for their rigorous exam processes. Passing preliminary exams requires roughly 100 hours of study per hour of exam time (300 hours for exam P or FM!), a lot of determination, and the financial means to cover registration fees and exam materials.
OLA wants to help you get your exam journey started on the right foot! First-time exam takers who need financial support may apply for OLA’s First Time Exam Taker Stipend. Eligible candidates selected for this award will be provided $200 for exam materials as well as $125 to cover half of the registration cost for Exam P/1 or FM/2.
Eligibility: Latine actuarial candidates who will take their first actuarial exam (P/1 or FM/2) within the next six months and purchase their study materials within 45 days or who purchased study materials no more than 120 days prior to submitting this application. Applicants need to live or study in the U.S. This stipend is not designed for individuals with full-time Jobs in an actuarial position with exam support.
Payment: OLA will send a $325 check to the candidates who apply for this stipend and are selected for this award. The number of awards given will be subject to funding. Winners need to send the proof of exam registration and the receipt of the exam study material purchased. If you haven’t registered or purchased the study material, you can submit the documentation after you are selected for this Stipend.
